Review - Bonded by Laura Wright

Title: Bonded
Series: The Cavanaugh Brothers #4
Author: Laura Wright
Release Date: September 1, 2015

The New York Times bestselling author of Brash returns to the Triple C Ranch in River Black, Texas, for more cowboys, romance, and danger…

Ranch hand Blue Perez’s once simple life is spinning out of control. He’s discovered he has three half-brothers, and they’re not ready to accept his claim on the ranch. Also, Blue’s girlfriend may have betrayed him in the worst way possible. And after one evening of drowning his sorrows at the bar, there’s someone he can’t get out of his mind, a woman who says she’s carrying his child.

Following a night of breathtaking passion in the arms of the man she’s longed for all her life, waitress Emily Shiver is contemplating her next step. With everything that’s going on in Blue’s life, she doesn’t want to force him into fatherhood. Yet as hard hearted as he may seem, Blue can’t turn his back on her, particularly when she becomes the target of someone’s dark obsession....

Family and home never mattered so much…

I am a huge fan of this author and couldn’t wait for the finale of this series! This is the fourth story of The Cavanaugh Brothers and focuses on Blue Perez this time.

Adjusting to his new family situation is hard on Blue, as his relationship with his mother and his half-brothers is strained to say the least. Emily Shiver has been in love with Blue forever and nothing has changed for her even if his last name has. An unexpected night together results in a new family being created and Blue and Emily have to decide what family and love means.

There is a tragedy that has haunted the Cavanaugh family for years and is never more evident as Blue fights with his family and, now, against hoping for something he is afraid to believe is real; with betrayal from many different fronts, Blue is having a hard time accepting the honesty of Emily’s love and the realization that he is going to be a father. Emily has loved him from afar for a long time while Blue looks at her now in a totally different way. Maybe a case of “too much, too quickly” though as Blue fights the situation, and Emily.

I love how Emily is honest and up front through it all even when she really would be justified in kicking Blue into next week. Obviously there is drama between them but, as usual, it all seems natural and unfolds with love and humor.

Following them both sorting out their conflict, as well as solving a painful mystery, made for a satisfying and entertaining read!
