Number Thirteen was a true adventure of broken spirit and the will to rediscover and find love. After only the first 2 chapters I was thinking WTF and was intrigued as to where this story was going! Well this story took me to a place of darkness and told a tale of the submission of broken souls. Throughout the book I was constantly thinking about what's going to happen next! As the story line unfolded it took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions, drama and manipulation. I rate this book a 4.5! I thought it was great.

First and foremost, this is my first ever Bella Jewel book that I read. When I first read the blurb of Number Thirteen, I was excited to read this. It was described as dark but there was nothing dark about this book. I wished this book went that route. Number Thirteen by Bella Jewel is one of those stories that left me with mixed feelings. I didn’t love the book but I didn’t hate it. The one thing I can for sure say is that I normally love epilogues but for Number Thirteen, I didn’t like it all. I wasn’t fond of how the book ended.
Number Thirteen is about 13 girls who are “taken” and ordered to follow and abide rules from their new Master Will. These 13 ladies do not know their names and has no recollections of their past only Will knows their real identity. One thing for sure is bullying is a no no and you must follow the rules in order to get rewarded. If you don’t you will be punished. The Master is no monster.. he’s actually good and has “good” intentions. He wants to transform and help these 13 ladies but the way he went about it left me feeling meh… This is where the author lost me when the hero states he wants to find a lover within the 13 ladies.
Number Thirteen was a different read.. The storyline was not what I expected. I know there are lots of mixed feelings on this book from love to major dislike. I can say that I’m in the middle. The storyline kept me intrigued till the very end that I finished the book. I thought the focus of the book was for these 13 ladies to come out stronger with a new sense of identity and belonging but in the end they were left codependent and still a number.

I have to say what attracted me to Number Thirteen was the cover. I loved it and thought to myself, this is going to be out of the norm for me as far as romance novels go. I couldn’t have been more right.
After I finished the epilogue I thought what the fuck?!
This book reminds me of the Disney story Beauty and the Beast. A very twisted grownup version but I can see a lot of similarities. I don’t like spoilers so I guess you will have to read the book to see what I am talking about.
My emotions were up and down throughout the whole thing. I felt sad for William one minute and hated him the next. I fell in love with him and in my very next breath said, “What the hell are you thinking William?”
If you are looking for a book that DOES NOT follow the “cookie cutter” romance novels out there, this is your book. I enjoyed it and found myself not being able to put it down. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I became emotional invested in these characters and felt the ending was quite short and to the point, lacking the intenseness of the rest of the book. Overall, a great read.

Sucked in. Immersed. Unputdownable. A few words to describe just how I felt while reading this book. It was definitely different from what I usually read, and that's a good thing. I was thoroughly invested in this story.
The book itself was very intriguing. I read it in one sitting. However, I was lost with a few inconsistencies. It's a great book if you want something different to read. I wish there was a bit more to the story and more detail given about both the women and William's past. I needed more of a motive for this story to jive with me. The ending left a lot to be desired.
I'm not saying don't read it. It was good. Certain parts didn't work for me, that doesn't mean they won't work for you. Everyone reads a book differently.

Bella Jewel is an Aussie girl through and through. She spent her life in Western Australia, growing up in many different areas of the state. She now currently lives in Perth with her husband, children and mass amounts of pets. She's crazy, fun, outgoing and friendly. Writing is her passion, she started at the young age of 18 but finally got the courage up to publish, and her first novel Hell's Knights was released in August 2013.
