Blog Tour - Right kind of Wrong by Chelsea Fine

Title: Right Kind Of Wrong
Author: Chelsea Fine
Series: Finding Fate #3
Release Date: September 2, 2014

Sometimes wrong can feel oh so right . . .

Jenna Lacombe needs complete control, whether it's in the streets . . . or between the sheets. So when she sets out on a solo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she's beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. Ever since they shared a wild night together last year, he's been trying to strip away her defenses one by one. He claims he's just coming along to keep her safe-but what's not safe for her is prolonged exposure to the tattooed hottie.

Jack can't get Jenna out from under his skin. She makes him feel alive again after his old life nearly destroyed him-and losing her is not an option. Now Jack's troubles are catching up to him, and he's forced to return to his hometown in Louisiana. But when his secrets put them both in harm's way, Jenna will have to figure out how far she's willing to let love in . . . and how much she already has.

Opening my car door, I slide into the driver’s seat, turn to put the key in the ignition and—
“Ahh!” Jumping back, I thwack my open palm against the gigantic body of pure muscle seated in the passenger seat. “Dammit, Jack! You scared me!”
“Good morning.” He grins.
“What are you doing in my car?” I snap, throwing him some serious stink eye.
“I’m going with you to Louisiana.” He nods to a large duffle bag in the backseat.
I blink. “Uh, no you’re not.”
“Uh, yes I am.”
“Like hell.”
He crinkles his brow. “I’ve never understood that phrase. But okay. I’ll go with you ‘like hell,’ whatever that means.”
“Get out of my car.” I point to the door.
“Oh, Jenna.” He clucks his tongue. “This will be good for both of us. Listen.” He casually leans against the passenger window and pierces me with his gray eyes. “For reasons beyond my control, I need to go back home. And for reasons beyond your control, so do you. And since our ‘homes’ are right next door to one another, I figured we’d carpool to Louisiana and you can just drop me off at Little Vail on your way to New Orleans.”
He gives me that little-boy smile of his and it’s all I can do not to lean forward and soak it in. I hate me.
“I don’t see how that’s good for me,” I say. “At all.”
He shrugs. “You get some company on the road.”
I nod with a clenched jaw. “And you get a free ride.”
His smile grows and I instantly realize that was the wrong thing to say.
“Precisely,” he says.
I can’t afford to spend any excessive time with Jack. Not just because we fight, but because of what happened last year. It was one crazy night when we were both drunk, and we never spoke of it after the fact, but our “friendship” has been tense ever since.
“Well, I don’t need any company,” I say, shaking my head.
“Sure you do,” he says easily. “Everyone needs company.”
“Not me. So get out.”
He grins. “No.”
God I hate him. But not really.
God I hate that I don’t hate him.
I jut my chin and stare him over. “Fine. If you won’t remove yourself…” Exiting the car, I stomp around the hood to his door, yank it open, and wrap my hands around his bicep. Then I start pulling.
He doesn’t budge. Like, he literally doesn’t move an inch as I tug at his oversized arm and grunt like I’m trying to move a massive piece of hardwood furniture and not a human being.
His eyes dance as he watches my struggle. “What’s your plan here, Jenna? Haul me out of the car and leave me in the street?”
“Sounds good to me.”
“Well, that doesn’t sound friendly at all,” he says, flicking the lever to recline to seat a bit so he looks even more relaxed than before.
“I wasn’t trying to be friendly,” I grit out.
“Clearly.”
I try pulling him out again, to no avail. He’s giant and solid, and honestly, just touching him is turning me on.
I drop my hands and glower at him. “You can’t just tell me that you’re coming along on my road trip.”
He cocks his head. “Would you feel better if I asked?”
“Not especially.”
“Jenna.” He leans forward and his gaze bores through me, down into the deepest parts of my being. “Will you please let me join you on your trip to Louisiana?”
For a moment, I’m lost in his eyes, debating with myself. I don’t trust myself around Jack. Not at all. But I did spend half the night tossing in my sleep with nightmares about traveling alone so maybe having Jack tag along might not be so bad after all. Maybe.
Pulling back, I straighten my shoulders and relent, like usual when it comes to Jack.
“Fine,” I huff out as I stomp back to my side of the car in climb in. “But no talking,” I say, hoping I haven’t just made a huge mistake.
He grins and I turn away.
Surely I can manage to keep my panties on around Jack for a few days…right?

Sometimes I read through an entire book without feeling the need to highlight a single, solitary passage. I just don't feel as though there are moments, lines, dialogue that I want to refer back to. To remember. This was NOT one of those books. I highlighted the hell out of it. Because, damn it, there was so much in it that resonated with me. Amused me. Appealed to me. Jenna Lacombe has spent months trying to forget her night with Jack Oliver and all the things he made her feel. Jenna wants - needs - to be in control and she has a plan. Jack does not factor into that plan. When family duty calls and Jenna packs up for a solo road trip to NOLA, the last thing she wants is to be joined by the man that gets under her skin. Jack's family has called him back to the place he never wanted to return to - home. To get there, he hitches a ride with the woman that appeals to him in every way, even though she's intent on keeping him at arms length. As Jack is drawn back into the life he thought he'd escaped, Jenna starts to realise those pesky feelings aren't going away. Now, she has to decide if Jack is all wrong for her, or all right.... This story surprised me. It was funnier than I expected - I laughed out loud on a number of occasions - and sweeter than I envisioned - Jack had beautiful words for his girl - and the end result was a book that I loved reading and hated finishing. True, there were moments when I would have happily smacked Jenna upside the head for her willful blindness and indecision. And I felt the story lines with their respective families (particularly Jack's), were almost too quickly and neatly resolved. But neither of those things stopped me from enjoying this book. Why? Because it was beautifully written. I loved the way Chelsea Fine weaved Jenna and Jack's history into the story, allowing the short timeframe for their trip (and their HEA) to be believable. She used words, both loving and harsh, to illustrate feelings and create tension. She made the initially combative relationship seem honest and raw. In the end, this wasn't a story about Jack's (or Jenna's) family. It was about love. Believing in it. Giving it. Accepting it. Trusting it. And just letting it happen. And that made this book a highlight - and highlightable. Right Kind of Wrong is the third book in the Finding Fate series and can be read standalone. No cliffhanger. 4.5 stars.~Review by Beth

Let me start off by saying that this was one of those books that once you start reading you do not want to put it down! You will read it cover to cover in one sitting because you HAVE to know what happened. Jenna has commitment issues. She’s never wanted to be in a relationship until Jack but she keeps telling herself that she cannot go there with him. Jenna has a very diverse family—especially her grandmother. :-) Jenna's grandmother has been saying that "her end is near." When Jenna gets a call from her mother telling her that this is it for her grandmother, Jenna has doubts. After much insistence from her mother, she decides to go back to Louisiana. Jenna chooses to drive instead of fly from Arizona...so road trip!! She thought she was going alone but then an unexpected guest elects to join her. Jack is cocky, sexy man that knows it and uses it to his advantage. The one person that Jack’s sex appeal doesn't work on is the one that he wants it to most—Jenna. However, Jack has bigger issues…Jack's brother Drew is missing and his mother is in denial of the whole situation. Samson, Jack's younger brother, knows something is not right and needs Jack's help. Jack decides to hitch a ride to Louisiana with Jenna even though he hasn't asked her. Jack knows she won't turn him down. He has an ulterior motive to join her on this road trip and he's hoping it works out to his advantage! The excitement and sizzling chemistry between these two is HOT!! The constant banter between Jack and Jenna is hilarious, sweet, and emotional. You will wish you were riding in the car with them. Jack is on a mission to break down Jenna's high walls that she has built around her heart. He will stop at nothing to get her to open up and trust him. Jenna fight's Jack tooth and nail and refuses to let Jack in. But, as they say, when you try to fight what the heart wants it's a losing battle because what the heart wants the heart gets. This beautiful book will have you smiling, laughing and hoping for the best for Jack and Jenna. You don't want to miss this awesome read. 4 1/2 stars.

4.5 Stars This is not Book 1 in the series, but this CAN be read as a standalone. Jenna is a college student in Arizona just getting ready to start a new school year when she gets a call that her Grandma is dying—again. This is not the first time grandma has used this trick to get the family back home to New Orleans to see her. To save money Jenna plans to take a road trip. Jack receives a call and needs to return home to Louisiana to help with a family emergency. To save money, he plans to ride to Louisiana with his friend, Jenna, he just needs to get her to agree. Not meeting prior to college, Jenna and Jack’s hometowns are only 2 hours apart. Along to way, the tension between the two skyrockets to new heights as Jack tries to get Jenna to open up to him about her true feelings. I really liked Jack and Jenna. I love that Jack doesn’t take Jenna’s crap, and vice versa. They have a true friendship, even if Jack can’t get her to admit how she truly feels. I would have loved to be in the car during the trip. They are both so easy to relate to—it’s easy to not to want to put this book down until the end. There is also another story taking place while they are LA, and WOW, I did not expect it. Not that it is that unusual, but you just don’t anticipate it occurring out of the characters past. That being said, don’t try to figure it out! The author truly pulled the rabbit out of the hat with this and I had no clue! I loved it. ~ Review by Devlynn

Chelsea lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where she spends most of her time writing stories, painting murals, and avoiding housework at all costs. She's ridiculously bad at doing dishes and claims to be allergic to laundry. Her obsessions include: superheroes, coffee, sleeping-in, and crazy socks. She lives with her husband and two children, who graciously tolerate her inability to resist teenage drama on TV and her complete lack of skill in the kitchen.
