Review
Amity Cross knows how to write one Hell of a book! Beat
has definitely shot straight to the top of my favorites in the fighter
genre. Her ability to pull you in and grab your attention is amazing.
From the very beginning, I was hooked on Ren and Ash's story. Just when you thought it was going to go one way, it took me on a ride that I
wasn't expecting.
After the death of her mother, Ren is at a crossroads in her life. She seeks out her estranged father who just happens to own a gym for up and coming MMA fighters. Relegated to the storage closet like the dirty little secret she is, she decides to take up training while she's there.
Enter Ash, her father's Golden Boy fighter. He's been off doing God knows what for the past few years. His hot and cold attitude with Ren turns her on as much as it pisses her off. Ash has a dangerous pastime. And once Ren gets wind of it she's all about joining him. But his past and her present are about to collide and set into motion a dangerous chain of catastrophic events.
Action, drama and seduction, Beat was a great read. Yes, there was a big cliffhanger and I was left salivating for the rest of this story. Amity has created an engaging cast of characters, with a kick ass hero and heroine and a story you can really sink your teeth into.

Fighter romance books are my favorite genre so when asked to read this, I was all over it.
First
off, I want to say that very seldom do we get to see a dominant
heroine. Renn takes bad ass bitch to a whole new level. She has overcome
so much and seems to struggle through most of the book. When she
finally comes into her own I found myself mentally fist pumping and
thinking, "F*uck yeah!"
Then you have Ash....who screams HOT
DOMINANT ALPHA MALE. This guy is sex-on-a-stick. The kind of guy
that portrays himself to be a super badass but, on the inside happens to be
sweet, caring and insecure. We don't really get to know him very well in
this book so I am praying the next book is all Ash.
This fighter romance had it all. A page turning story line, hot alpha males,
a kick ass heroine and don't even get me started on the sex. This author does not disappoint.
I
give this book 4.5 stars because I really wanted to know more about
Ash. I fell hard for him but if I would have known a little bit more
about his past I would have fallen deeper.
Excellent start, I can't wait for Pulse!!

My fist slammed into the heavy leather bag, the impact
jolting up my arm and absorbing into my torso.
The only light was from the back row of fluorescents
I’d switched on over the ring. It was dark, murky and helped me pretend I was
someplace else. The drama from the daylight hours was gone and it was just me
and the darkness. Exactly the way I liked it.
I began another set of punches, hair sticking to the
sweat beading across the back of my neck. Structure. This was the only thing
that was predictable in my life and I needed predictable.
Stance. Guard. Punch. Guard. Repeat.
There was a loud cough behind me and I spun on my
heel, heart thumping in my chest, and my gaze collided with Ash’s.
“Fuck,” I exclaimed, holding a hand over my heart. “Don’t
fucking do that, Ash.” Typical. The creeper was being all creeper again.
“What are you doing?” He stared at me, his gaze
hovering a little too long on my bare midriff.
I steadied the bag with one hand, taking deep breaths.
“What does it look like?”
“I’ve never seen…” He trailed off and I wondered if
I’d finally made the Golden Boy lost for words.
I
turned my back so I didn’t have to look at him. “What? A woman in a sports bra?
Highly doubt it.” I rolled my eyes and wiped my forehead with the back of my
arm. Even though I couldn’t see, I felt his gaze burning into my skin and I
suppressed the urge to squeeze my thighs together. Infuriating, self-absorbed,
arrogant…
