Blog Tour - Obligation by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Title: Obligation
Series: Underground Kings #2
Author: Aurora Rose Reynolds
Release Date: February 11, 2015

This is a standalone by an author who believes in love at first sight.

[ob-li-gey-shuh n]

An obligation is a course of action that someone is required to take, whether legal or moral.

At six years old, Myla was sent to a family her father and mother had chosen for her when they knew their time on earth was almost up. What they were unaware of was what they thought would be her safe haven would become her living hell.

Kai has been watching Myla from afar since he took over the family business from his father and inherited the responsibility of keeping her safe. When word gets back to Kai that Myla is not only in danger, but that his assets are being compromised, he immediately jumps into action and does the only thing that can be done at the time by marrying her.

Neither Myla nor Kai would have thought that something that started off as a farce would become the most important thing either of them could've ever done.

Please be aware that the content of this book may be difficult for some readers.

Hot. That's a simple but accurate way to describe Aurora Rose Reynolds' books. In fact, you're pretty much guaranteed a strong, demanding, protective and inwardly soft/outwardly hard Alpha man, dirty sex and a good time when her name is on the cover.

Kai has watched over Myla, attempted to fulfill his obligation to her keep her safe, for many years...not knowing that the measures put in place to protect her put her in the hands of one who would hurt her.

When her life, and his plans, are put in danger, Kai does what her has to to ensure her safety - marries her.

It's supposed to be sham, but with the intense attraction between them, fake may soon become real. Will they be strong enough to hold off danger and hold on to each other?

Oh, Kai. You can add him to the list of passionate, crazy-in-love men that Ms. Reynolds has penned. He's exactly the kind of hero you'd expected from her, and just the kind hero I was hoping for. I liked him. Strike that, I loved him in all his over-the-top glory.

Obligation was another strong story from this author - and a good addition to the Underground Kings series. While I struggled to follow the timeline on occasion, and had hoped to get a little more of my man, Kenton, I really enjoyed Myla and Kai's story. It was passionate, sexy, sweet, occasionally funny and sometimes sad. It hits some heavy notes, touches on a subject that makes me awfully uncomfortable, but does so with a lot of heart - and enough promise for a HEA to make all the feels worthwhile.

Yup, this one had all the hallmarks of Ms. Reynolds' best work, which should keep fans of her Until series happy, simply by giving them a taste of what they love, paired with a new couple, new story and new characters to swoon over. In fact, I'd say Obligation has the right balance to reward loyal fans and draw in new readers - which is no easy task. I, for one, am more excited than ever to see what comes next.

What a beautiful emotional story of survival, learning to trust yourself and others, and finding the strength to keep living!

Kai knew at a young age that Myla was someone special and that she would be his future, he just didn't realize how much that would affect his life later on. As Kai makes the decision to marry Myla to protect her, he doesn't realize that it’s actually his heart that needs protection from her because he will never be the same. Kai has never had to answer to anyone, he makes the rules, he commands rather than being commanded but now his heart is being commanded by Myla, and if he doesn't get a grip, she will have full control over him.

As I read how Kai did whatever he had to do to protect Myla, the more I fell in love with him. Despite being an alpha man, the love he had for Myla is what really brought him to his knees. Myla was apprehensive at first; she didn't want her heart to be broken again but also because she knew Kai had the power to bring down her defenses completely and exert complete power over her. Their relationship was not all hearts and flowers because they really had to get to know each other completely and in the middle of that, Kai had to do what he did best and protect Myla.

There is plenty of action but mostly the chemistry between Myla and Kai was built up until they couldn't handle it and then BOOM!! I knew Kai's story was going to be amazing I just didn't realize how amazing!! I FLOVED Kai's story and I cannot wait for the next book because of that itty bitty little teaser you give us at the end. And thank you so much for the epilogue; I love epilogues!

“Everyone is looking for you.”
I turn my head, pulling my hair out of my face as I watch a boy I’ve never seen before climb up the stairs and into my tree house.
“Who are you?” I ask him as he sits across from me.
“Kai,” he smiles, looking around. He looks a lot different than the other kids I know. His hair is long, and his skin is a lot darker than mine. “Why are you hiding?”
I shrug and look away from him. Daddy was yelling earlier; he was so mad that he was turning red. Then Mommy started crying, and Daddy started yelling louder. I heard Mommy telling Daddy that he had to send me away. I don’t want to go away. I try to be good, but sometimes, I forget to listen.
“Why are you crying?”
I look up at him and wipe my face. “I’m scared,” I whisper, wiping my nose.
“Come on. I’ll protect you,” he says, holding his hand out to me.
Then my mommy calls my name again. I look at his hand, move Mr. Bear under my arm, and put my hand in his.
“Myla!” Mommy yells, running towards me.
I can tell she has been crying again.
“Where did you go?” Her hands grab my shoulders and she shakes me hard.
“It’s my fault. I asked her to show me the tree house,” Kai tells her.
She stops shaking me then looks at him. “You shouldn’t have done that. You knew we were looking for her,” she says angrily her head.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking,” Kai says softly, putting his hands in his pockets and looking at the ground.

I look back at Mommy, and she shakes her head before grabbing my hand and pulling me with her. When I look over my shoulder at Kai, he smiles, making me smile back.
