He’s always loved her…
First Sergeant Gale Sorren waited a war and half a lifetime for a chance to get stationed near the ex-wife who left him years ago. When he finally musters the courage to see her, the life he imagined she was living was nothing close to the reality.
She’s never stopped loving him…
Melanie never stopped worrying about Gale each time he headed off to war. But he’s never been there when she needed him and she’s had fifteen years to steel her heart against him.
But when Gale moves to Fort Hood, he finally has a chance to make things right with Melanie and the daughter she raised without him.
Can Mel trust her heart to a man who has always let her down?
True love is something hard to get over; that is what Gale and Melanie helped me to see in this beautiful story.
They got married at a young age and they both knew it wouldn't be easy but never did they imagine they would eventually go their separate ways. It was heartbreaking reading this because I realized how realistic this is for many people, and I could only imagine the pain and suffering they face.
Once Gale is in the immediate vicinity, he's determined to fight and get back what he lost. Seeing Melanie's apprehension, I couldn’t blame her because at one time Gale promised to be there for her and yet, he was not, leaving her to pick up the pieces and take care of their daughter alone.
Like life is unpredictable, beautiful and scary, among other things. Gale and Melanie’s story is much like that. I felt like a roller coaster: up, down, being shaken sideways and in the end, it left me feeling....well, I'll let you fill in the words once you read it for yourself. Get cozy once you start reading this emotional story because I sure did not want to be interrupted once I started. Thank you for another beautiful story, Ms. Scott!
