Review - Black Dawn by Cristin Harber

Title: Black Dawn
Series: Titan #8
Author: Cristin Harber
Release Date: July 14, 2015

Parker Black wants the one woman he can’t have. She's sweet and smart, but clueless about his military past or his role in Titan Group, an elite private security firm. He also has a side that she doesn't know about where his intelligence is as important as his strength. Everything is controlled. Chaos is mastered. That is the way he understands his world, how he keeps the Titan teams alive.

But what he’s wrong. About everything.

Lexi Dare lives two lives. She’s an unhappy fiancée stuck in a spiraling relationship, unsure how she ended up with a ring on her finger and an abuser in her bed. But she’s also elusive. Elite. A master hacker that goes by SilverChaos, playing deadly stakes. She has one ally, a hacker named BlackDawn, who is her partner as much as he’s her rival.

When the lines blur and the truth comes out, Lexi’s only shot at survival is to trust the one person who she needs to avoid before it’s too late.

Warning: This book has scorching hot scenes, a genius guy who could moonlight as a sexier than sin model, and a leading lady who is as brilliant as she is badass. There are motorcycles, military men, violent action scenes, and language that might make your mama blush. If that’s not your thing, this might not be your book. Enjoy!

He grabbed her hips, and she slammed her open palms against his chest.

“Why are you angry, Lex?”

“I just am.” Her fingers splayed then clutched his shirt.

He jerked her close, and her mouth went wide. The passion in her icy blue gaze rocketed through him. He shook his head. “No reason for that.”

“Go away. I need to think. I thought I had my head right, but now—God!”

His eyes dropped to her hands fisting his shirt. “You’re holding on to me, sweetheart.”

But instead of pushing him away, her fingers bit tighter into his chest. He spun them around so her back was against the wall, his chest pressing against hers with her clenched hands sandwiched between them. Her breaths came quicker. Her tongue darted out and licked her lip, and he groaned, flexing his hips into her.

“You still haven’t let go,” he breathed against her lips.

“I don’t want to.”

Parker Black’s world is very black and white. There's no room for gray in his controlled Titan environment. Chaos does not reign—it's mastered through data and risk analysis. Parker doesn't “do” risky—especially not risky like going after the one woman he's wanted for years.

Lexi Dare lives a double life. In one she's a miserable fiancée, stuck in a horrible relationship that's getting worse by the day—more abusive too. In the other, she's an elite, master hacker—one highly regarded in the hacker world. One coveted by legitimate organizations, who’d like to use her skills for good, and also coveted by those who'd like nothing but to unleash her skills on the masses for bad, potentially deadly, deeds.

What happens when hacker meets Titan? When the lines blur and gray out? When lives are at stake—can Parker and Lexi share some of their secrets with each other or is the risk too great?

Another fantastic, on-the-edge-of-your-seat installment of the Titan series! Doesn't get much better than smokin’ hot, black ops, Alpha males and the women in their lives. I loved seeing a “humanized” Parker—a person behind the computer geek whose role is to keep the rest of the Titan team alive through technology.

And Lexi. Holy crap. That woman is put through hell and back yet she's still strong as steel and willing to sacrifice herself for the good of others. I loved Parker and Lexi together as much as I loved the good natured ribbing of Parker by his Titan teammates and their wives. Can't wait for the next one!!
