This was such a perfect summer read!
Ryan Butler is headed to his hometown, which happens to be a small island full of friends and neighbors who are more like an extended family. He runs into an old friend, Morgan, a local woman he's had to fight off an attraction to in the past. He's not looking to settle down on the tiny island he worked so hard to get away from, and she's not a one night kind of girl.
Morgan is trying to make a go of her parent's Inn, left to her and her sister after their deaths. Her sister, Sabrina, has some learning issues and personal anxieties that make functioning alone mostly impossible, so Morgan feels extra pressure to keep the Inn going so that her sister has a place where she can contribute, and be comfortable with her life.
The only problem is, the Inn needs more than a little work, and the sisters have no resources left, and not enough business to earn the extra. In exchange for a room, Ryan agrees to take on some of the handyman duties needed to spruce the place up.
The attraction between the two was sparking through the whole book. They didn't try to hide their attraction, and their upfront banter and flirtation were fun to read about. The author made you wait a while for the steam to build, but it was totally worth it! These two were hot together!
The small town was everything a well-written small town should be. Three dimensional neighbors, who were close knit and an important part of the story. Not to mention getting to keep in touch with characters from the first book in the series, and setting up plenty of opportunities to see future installments set in this lovely little town. The only way this would have been better is if I were actually at the beach while reading it.

V. K. Sykes is a wife/husband writing team - Vanessa Kelly and Randall Sykes - who write romantic suspense and single-title contemporary romance. One of the great things they appreciate about being writers is that they can work anywhere so Vanessa and Randy split their time between Ontario, Canada, in the summer and Florida in the winter. Both locations have shores just as beautiful as the imaginary Seashell Bay.
