Review - Screwed by Kendall Ryan

Title: Screwed
Author: Kendall Ryan
Release Date: September 15, 2015

I have one rule: Don’t shit where you eat.

Several of the women in the condo complex I own would love some one-on-one playtime, and why wouldn’t they? I’m young, fit, attractive, and loaded. Not to mention I’m packing a sizable bulge below the belt. It’s a combination that drops panties on a regular basis.

Yay, me, right?

But my cock, troublemaker that he is, has been confined to my trousers by my business partner. A concession I agreed to, and one that’s never been hard to enforce until Emery moves in across the hall. She’s smart, young, determined, and sexy as hell. I want a taste. I won’t stop until I’m buried deep inside the succulent new-in-town brunette.

After being warned about my past, she does her best to steer clear, but I’m about to show her that underneath it all, I’m a guy with a heart of gold and a cock of steel.

My name is Hayden Oliver, and this is my story.

SCREWED is standalone romantic comedy by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Kendall Ryan.

In-and-out… That seems like both an apt description of my reading of Screwed—since I read it one, very fun sitting—and Hayden Oliver’s policy when it comes to women. Which makes Hayden a player, and one of my favorite things is a reformed manwhore. That must be why I couldn’t put it down.

Hayden Oliver’s cock has been caged. With his business partner telling him that the ladies who live in their apartment building are off limits, Hayden now has to keep his rather large friend zipped up. Which wouldn’t be a problem, save for the delectable new resident swaying her yoga-pant covered ass in his direction.

…Or maybe she’s just unpacking. Because Emery Winters has been warned—stay away from Hayden, if you know what’s good for you. He has a reputation and a past, after all.

Only, maybe Hayden’s not such a bad guy underneath. At least, that’s what he’s determined to prove when he moves in on Emery. The only question is, will she believe it?

I LOVED this sexy, funny and super fun read. If only it was longer! *Sigh* Kendall Ryan’s books have been among my favorites in the past, and the hot cover, coupled with the catchy premise, had me salivating over Screwed. And for good reason to. It was all the best things about romantic comedy—likeable leads, adorable moments shared, secondary characters that have you chomping at the bit for more, and plenty of smiles and laughs to go around. Oh, and a reformed manwhore.

Hayden Oliver…YUM! He’s rich, successful, and, despite his loose morals in the past, a really good guy. Oh, with a big…well, you know. I have a major crush on him—and I think anyone with a pulse would like feel the same way. I really enjoyed how he played with Emery, trying to show her he could be a friend, all while planning to strip her naked and do dirty things. Je-sus, YES, PLEASE!

Emery was great too. Smart and sassy, she didn’t just lie down and let Hayden run roughshod over her. She gave back, showed her spine—to him, and in her dealings with her new job—and it made me want to be her friend.

One of the best things about Screwed was the unpredictability of the characters for me. I thought I had a couple of them nailed down, and I was surprised with how their involvement played out. I would love to not only read about Hudson in Monster Prick (great title, Ms. Ryan, BTW), but also about a couple of other secondaries that have such potential… Please?!

Screwed is another fantastic read from Kendall Ryan. I read it in a matter of hours because I couldn’t put it down.

We meet Hayden, a manwhore with an affinity for beautiful woman. He is a business man and owns many properties where he keeps getting in trouble for screwing the tenants. So his business partner, Hudson, bets him that he can’t stay away from the newest attractive tenant.

“Jesus, she’s pretty. Like spring an awkward erection and come way too soon pretty.”

Since he can’t seem to stay away from Emery, the feisty, intelligent, beautiful lawyer he decides to try being just friends with a woman. Being new to LA and not having any friends, Emery decides to give the friendship a try.

“I’m not under the delusion that my magic vagina will cure his no-good womanizin’ ways. I just escaped Boyfriend Hell; I won’t go back to see if it’s frozen over since the last time I checked.”

Hayden and Emery become really good friends and are very comfortable with each other. However, there is still that undeniable attraction between them that leads to sexual tension. When they finally give in, it is HOT! But will they still be able to be friends now that they had sex?

This story was fun and humorous; it was angsty and chock full of sexual tension; it was sexy and passionate. I loved the friendships. I loved the family dynamics and I absolutely can’t wait for Hudson and Gracie’s story!

I had a bit of a hard time getting into Screwed. When I met Hayden, Roxy and Emery all I could think was one was jealous, one was a player and there was going to be a very typical and asinine group of odd friends who couldn't get along anymore. But this book was none of those things. Well, one kind of. Hayden is a player and Emery is new to town. But things are different this time...

I like Hayden. All men need the love of a good woman and he's no different. Emery, like any fabulous woman, needs and honest and good man. Has she found that in Hayden?

I would like a bit more of Hudson and Roxy. I'm intrigued to know more about both of them. This is a fun group of people that I'd love to be friends with. Kendall Ryan writes great characters, with fun personalities and wacky ideas and idiosyncrasies. It works for me and I'm ready for more!! :)
