Review - When I'm With You by Harper Sloan

Title: When I’m With You
Series: Hope Town #3
Author: Harper Sloan
Release Date: April 26, 2016

Nate:

It’s nearly impossible to be surrounded by love but not understand it. My parents, my sister, and just about everyone around us has no trouble accepting that love. To give your trust to someone else and believe they would die before hurting you. I’ve witnessed it—I’ve seen the power of it—but I’ve also seen the pain. Because for me, I’ve only loved someone I could never have, and my biggest fear is that by giving her my love, all I would do is ruin her. I should have tried harder, but I’m not sure I can because I only feel complete when I’m with her.

Emberlyn:

The only time I feel like I belong is when he’s near. His infectious smile warms me straight to my bones. Any insecurities I have vanish with just a wink from him. A sliver of his attention makes me feel invincible. But all it took was one drunken night of truths for me to lose everything I had begun to crave. Now, I’m not sure how to move on because I only feel complete when I’m with him.

He said I was too young. I said he was perfect. He said our families wouldn’t understand. I said we could weather any storm. He said he would ruin me. And he was right.

When I got When I’m With You on my kindle, I was so excited, there may have been flails involved! This series has been so addicting, and I can’t get enough!

Nate and Ember have had a rough road. With their age difference and families being so close, there were some reservations for having a relationship. So they got pushed apart by good intentions, which only lead to being without the person they were meant to be with…

This book gave me so many feels. Nate, oh, Nate. He is definitely an alpha. He had so much love to give, yet he pushed it away, thinking it was the best thing. When the time comes to say “fuck it” and be with Ember, he may have lost his chance. While reading I just want to reach into my book and push them together, and not let them be apart.

Ember has been hopelessly in love with Nate for such a long time. Though, after a certain night where not-so-great things happen, it has her pushing him away, too. When I realized what happened, I felt so much for Ember, as she was heartbroken. When Nate finally comes to his senses, I couldn’t blame her hesitation, even though I wanted them together so much.

Through all the heartbreak, forgiveness, and a new relationship, Ember and Nate’s love story wasn’t a walk in the park, but it was a journey that I enjoyed reading. They didn’t start off on the best footing, but they both grew as people and when it came time for their love to surface, they were ready.

Harper Sloan has managed to write yet another great alpha male, and I can’t wait to see who the next one will be. Her writing makes you feel so much for the characters, while losing yourself in the story. Hope Town is a wonderful place to escape to when you need a break from the real world.

When I’m With You is an electric combination of sassy and sweet, with just the right amount of sexy thrown in!

Nate Reid is the perfect man. He’s kind and hot. Sexy and funny. And even more, he’s determined… determined to make Emberlyn Locke his. Ember is full of sass and sweetness. She’s creative and thoughtful. And she’s in love. As with real life, love is so much about timing. With Nate and Ember, timing is everything.

First let me say, I’m hopping the first plane to Hotlanta if Dirty Dog is a real place, because holy smokes, it sounds epic! A place a single chick needs to take all her friends for a much needed, never to be forgotten night out. Then there’s the firecracker. It sounds perfect! I’ll take one, please. Or maybe two or three?

From the very beginning it was evident that Nate and Ember had chemistry in spades. The kind of love that you can only fight for so long. I found myself so immersed in the story that I failed to notice how quickly the pages flew by and then I was at the end. Like, wow! How did that happen?

I’m calling this the sweet book. I love Ember’s sassy, sweet personality. She’s the kind of chick I’d love to be friends with. She’s real and honest, and the love she has for Bam tugged on my heart strings! <3
