Title: That Man #1
Series: That Man
Author: Nelle L'Amour
Release Date: April 8, 2014
There’s a new beautiful player in town…
Blake Burns, the sexy head of SIN-TV, who goes through women like some go through water. Until he meets Jennifer McCoy, his outspoken new assistant and development executive.
Newly engaged Jennifer has no idea that her devastating new boss is the man she kissed, blindfolded, in a game of Truth or Dare. That kiss, that man, that beautiful stranger she cannot forget.
Blake hasn’t been able to stop thinking about that kiss either…and he’ll do anything to win Jennifer —even if it means being a beautiful bastard and breaking all the rules.
This humorous, at times unbelievable, sexy
series is similar in tone to some of the other contemporary romance series with
an alpha super successful businessman, except a bit lighter in tone. Blake is
not a damaged male, haunted by his past. Jennifer, however, has an unresolved
incident from her past. He’s a player, and she has a fiancé, who is as dull as
can be, and aptly nicknamed Dickwick by Blake.
I liked how The Kiss occurred because she
accepted a dare in the game, Truth or Dare. And she didn’t get to identify the
guy who gave the most amazing kiss ever… she called him That Man. That phrase
is humorously repeated throughout the series.
I enjoyed that the ideas that Jennifer
brought to her job at SIN-TV (cool name) and her taste in erotica novels was
very good! There was sizzling chemistry between Blake and Jennifer. Jennifer
was smart and independent, so the weakness in the story, was why she stayed
with Bradley. It was not compelling and some things, I think, should have been
obvious to her. I also wasn’t thrilled by the prank Blake pulled on Bradley.
The story started off a bit weak to me, but got better as it got to the cliffhanger ending. A strength was the workplace and all the drama that happened there. I also really liked that his POV was included. It added to the story and kept me from seeing as a two dimensional character. There were good secondary characters, and I was ready to read book 2 to find out what happened next.

The romantic tension between Blake Burns and Jennifer McCoy heats up in this highly anticipated sequel to THAT MAN 1.
Still engaged to her college boyfriend, Jennifer finds herself more and more attracted to her sexy as sin boss yet has no clue he’s that man she kissed blindfolded in a game of Truth or Dare. Unable to suppress her feelings, she wonders: is fantasizing about your boss a form of cheating?
Meanwhile, Blake, a player who’s never had a relationship, has no clue how to get to first base with Jennifer. Determined to prove that her fiancé, Bradley Wick, DDS, is a dweeb and definitely the wrong man for her, he puts Operation Dickwick into full force. No holds barred.
An unforgettable weekend in Vegas and an unexpected discovery change the game for both of them—for better and for worse.
The story continues with a rescue. Blake
was such a naughty bad boy… it was funny/sexy how he took advantage of
Jennifer’s caring nature when he was sick. The Vegas trip had an unexpected,
funny twist for Blake. There was enough humor… those ladies spotting Blake at
the erotic book signing convention! And of course, Blake screws up again.
Blake is not a book boyfriend of mine, but
I did enjoy his antics. He was not as controlling as other alpha males, which
is a plus, but his immaturity with the other women bothered me. However,
Jennifer continued to be a badass at her position. What she had planned to
improve the programming at SIN-TV was interesting and exciting. I really liked
that she was not a weak character.
Blake manages to wedge himself between
Bradley and Jennifer by a discovery that he reveals in a bad way. Jennifer is
relatable and likable and how she handles the revelations had me liking her
even more. Way to go, Jen!
This one ends in another cliffhanger that takes
the drama up a notch. I’m looking forward to book 3 and how the author will
resolve this.

The steamy and suspenseful conclusion to the bestselling THAT MAN trilogy!
Let’s cut to the chase. A sweet little Midwestern girl with a dimpled smile had shown me there was a connection between my cock and my heart. She was in my bloodstream bringing them together. Making me feel emotions and sensations I’d never felt with anyone.
The Kiss had changed everything. This painting had turned my heart upside down and torn me apart. I could no longer deny my feelings. I missed him for only one reason. I was in love.
Blake and Jennifer finally succumb to their passion and are unable to get enough of one another. A shocking discovery, however, threatens to pull them apart. And danger looms.
Will the two of them survive an outside force that promises to bring their love to a cruel and tragic end ?
The conclusion to the series delivered.
This was the best of the three, and I really prefer that a series ends with the
best book, rather than the weakest. This also had the most sex scenes in it.
Wow, once Blake and Jennifer get together, the pages sizzle.
They were so romantic once they got
together, and the Christmas at her parents’ home was both hilarious and hot.
Blake scored points by stepping up his game and really being there for her,
until she discovered a secret he had been hiding from her.
I got very involved in the suspenseful part of the story, trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The past catches up to Jennifer and threatens to end the lives of both Blake and her. It was quite dramatic and helped her to be able to let go of the past for good. There was a lot going on in this novel, and it was well-written. I started to really like Blake halfway through this, and I wanted them to have their HEA. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
