Oh, this book. It is so, so, SO much. It was more than enough, but never too much. It deals with very difficult and volatile subject matters. It contains scenes of consensual sex that are portrayed as rape, and it contains a flashback to actual rape. This may make it difficult for some readers, I'm sure.
However, the book was so much more than this label. The characters are deep. This is not just hot sex with an obligatory story sprinkled in. Although, there is hot sex. Raw, gritty, violent, hot, hot sex, that made me want to call my husband home from work. I can't help it; this book was a huge turn on despite the subject matter.
Maybe it's in the way he holds her after these consensual trysts that show he is more than the role he's playing for her pleasure. Or the way they begin to build a relationship outside of these anonymous trysts. Or the fact that there is complete trust between the characters; one little word, that's all she has to say, and it's over. That level of trust between these two people is beautiful.
Regardless, there was more to this book than all of that. There was great character development, as they work together to be more than the fantasy, to grow and accept themselves. There were well developed secondary characters, each of whom played important roles in the main character's life. This was a wonderfully written book, one I absolutely could not put down, and I am on edge waiting for the next installment!

Lilah Pace is a pseudonym for a New York Times bestselling author, so she can’t give away too much about herself here, but she has lived everywhere from Italy to the United Kingdom before putting down roots in the American South.
She’s addicted to Diet Coke, loves her dog, and daydreams about several British movie stars (though usually no more than two at a time).
And while it took her a long while to get up the courage to write books, now she hopes she’ll never stop.
