Title: Friction
Series: Legal Affairs #8
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: October 27, 2015
At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.
Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.
It’s taken me a couple of days to gather my thoughts about Friction enough that I could write this review and do it justice. Oh, hey, LEGAL PUN! Clearly, I should have taken a couple more days…but alas, here we are, and here I go. It’s pretty simple really—this book rules.
Leary Michaels knows that some causes are worth bending for—which is why ethics sometimes takes a backseat to winning for the little guy. And that’s never been more apparent than when she goes head-to-head with Reeve Holloway on a case that’s very close to her heart.
Reeve would like to be the one that Leary is bending for—he’s seen her feminine wiles up close and personal, and wants to take it a step further. The problem is, he’s opposing counsel and that makes him the enemy…
What happens when feelings get tangled up between the sheets with them has the potential to destroy them both—especially if Reeve destroys Leary’s case first.
Whew, boy. Note to self (and to you, fellow reader): Don’t read this book when getting your car serviced in small-town North Carolina. Fairly certain the elderly gentleman seated beside me in the waiting room will never be the same…and honestly, neither will I. Reeve and Leary are SMOKIN’ HOT. Which, really, I shouldn’t be surprised about. This is Sawyer Bennett we’re talking about. And that woman knows how to do deliciously dirty and dominant sex.
But this story isn’t just about the (so hot it burns) sex. It’s about this couple, and whether opposites can attract—in this case (oh, I am on FIRE with the legal puns tonight, y’all), lawyers attracting from opposite sides of the courtroom. Ms. Bennett is in her element here, and she does a fine job of making their situation both sympathetic and realistic, using just enough legalese to make it feel authentic and yet, still easy-to-follow, thereby making this Legal Affair one to remember.
Yup, this book definitely rules. I wanted a story that was funny, smart and sexy, and which made me feel, and I got it. And now I am so invested in the characters—all of them—that I’m ready to find Ms. Bennett’s address and go sit on her doorstep like a lost puppy until she gives me a book for Ford. And for Jenna. And for, oh, I don’t know, ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. (Too much? Perhaps, but don’t *snicker* judge me and my law-related puns, okay? It’s taken me days to get this far!)

When I found out we were getting another Legal Affairs story, a spin-off for one of Cal’s friends, I was so excited! This story was amazing!! Reeve is the perfect amount of sexy, sinful, and sweet.
Leary is a kick-ass lawyer. She works for Knight & Payne under the elusive Midge, who has formed her into the woman and lawyer she is today. She is fighting the biggest battle of her career—one she is personally invested in. Using her wily ways, Leary intimidates the opposing counsel, Reeve. What she didn’t count on was the chemistry between them.
“I’ll give you a choice. You continue to let me finger-fuck you until you come, right here, or you go with me to the bathroom where we’ll have a bit more privacy?”
And really, what choice did Leary have? To the bathroom they go, and it is HOT…as are the rest of their scenes together. Make sure you have some spare panties handy, ladies!! Of course, being in bed with your enemy isn’t always easy, even if it is sinfully sexy.
“I regret being the biggest idiot on the face of the earth for not recognizing that it’s impossible to be in bed with your enemy and not understand that someone is going to get hurt.”
I absolutely loved Ford! I think I fall in love with the secondary characters just as much, if not more than, the main characters in most of Sawyer’s books. They are just fantastic. Ford was the perfect friend!
We even got to see Cal for a bit which I adored! This is another amazingly fantastic read from Sawyer Bennett. She has a knack for writing the perfect alpha, dirty-talker who is sweet no matter what the occupation!
