Review & Paperback Giveaway - Lovely Trigger by R K Lilley

Title: Lovely Trigger
Author: R.K. Lilley
Published: March 10, 2014

THE IMPACT

Tristan hit rock bottom, and no one felt the impact harder than Danika. She was forced to see, in the most brutal of ways, that love does not conquer all. Bruised, bloody, and broken she had to walk away.

THE AFTERMATH

Picking up the pieces of your life after a tragedy is a daunting prospect, and that’s considering you still own all of the pieces. But what if you don’t? What if someone else owns those pieces, and those pieces are a part of your soul?

You dig deep and work with what you’ve got.

That’s what Danika told herself and believed, every single day, for years.

Tristan and Danika’s love had failed every test that life had thrown at them. She couldn’t forget that, not for one second. And if those tests had been overly harsh, well, she wasn’t one to wallow in self-pity. The failure was the thing she had to focus on. The failure was the lesson. She had no intention of working so hard to make it out of hell without learning that lesson well.

THE REUNION

Over six years after the night that changed everything, Danika finds herself forced to spend the weekend constantly in Tristan’s company, as they attend the wedding of two of their dearest friends. It’s been long enough that she feels they can be friendly again without it destroying her peace of mind, but just a small amount of time in his presence has her remembering something she had forced herself to forget: There’d been a reason she’d gone through hell with this man, for this man, some true good to precede the bad.

She shocks herself by quickly giving in to a hunger that she never imagined could still consume her.

Even the best intentioned denial has a breaking point.

THE HARSH REALITY

After everything that’s happened, the rise and the fall, the pain and the aftermath, can these two navigate the waters of acute regret, survive the trials of coming face to face with all that they have lost, and find the strength to try again?

So where do I begin…if you have read this series, you will understand why I am having a problem forming complete sentences right now.

I read Bad Things and Rock Bottom a while ago and was left….what’s the word I’m looking for (the clean version)….speechless. When Lovely Trigger came out I decided to do a re-read before starting it so I wouldn’t forget anything. I felt the same gut wrenching emotions the second time around and was pretty nervous for Lovely Trigger. It’s almost like I read every page with caution because if there is one thing I have learned about RK Lilley, it’s that she holds nothing back and anything can happen.

**Possible spoilers**

I read Lovely Trigger extremely slow. I don’t know if it’s because I was savoring it or afraid to turn the page. From the very beginning I fell in love with Tristan and Danika. So much has happened to them, it was just crazy to me. When I started the 3rd book I will admit, I had a little bit of a vendetta against Tristan. I felt so extremely bad for Danika and everything she went through and I didn’t think Tristan deserved to get her back. That lasted until about 35% in to this book. My heart was breaking for Tristan at this point and I was, (in my mind of course….maybe speaking out loud sometimes to) begging for Danika to cut him some slack. That shocked me that I felt that way. Danika had lost so much because of him so I could totally understand where she was coming from.

Tristan in Lovely Trigger grabbed onto my heart and would not let go. We get to see such a different side of him….an extremely vulnerable side that just makes you ache for him. He never gives up throughout the entire book and you find yourself pulling for him so bad….wanting to skip to the last page to see if he wins the girl back…..BUT I DIDN’T, which made the book all the more better. I won’t go into detail, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but I just wanted to say that this book and this entire series was mind blowing. 5 stars……yes, I will give it 5 stars….I would give it 10 stars if I could. RK Lilley, you are an amazing, amazing author and I would follow you and your books anywhere. Congratulations! I know now that, in the future, when I am reading new books…I will always compare my emotional state at the end of a book to the way I felt when I finished Lovely Trigger and that will determine how many stars I give from now on. Thank you for putting these characters on paper and introducing them to me, I am honored.

Review - Crashed by K Bromberg

Title: Crashed (Book #3 The Driven Trilogy)
Author: K Bromberg
Release Date: March 3, 2014

When life crashes down around us, how hard are we willing to fight for the one thing we can’t live without, each other?

Life is full of moments.

Big moments.

Little moments.

And none of them are inconsequential.

Every single moment prepares you for that one instance that defines your life. You must overcome all your fears, confront the demons that chase you, and cleanse the poison that clings to your soul or you risk the chance of losing everything.

Mine started the minute Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet. She made me feel. Made me whole when all I thought I could ever be was incomplete. Became the lifeline I never knew I needed. Hell yes, she’s worth the fight…but how do you fight for someone you know you don’t deserve?

Love is full of ups and downs.

Heart stopping highs.

Soul shattering lows.
And none of them are insignificant.

Love is a racecourse of unexpected twists and turns that must be negotiated. You have to break down walls, learn to trust, and heal from your past in order to win. But sometimes it’s the expected that’s the hardest to hold on to.

Colton has healed and completed me, stolen my heart, and made me realize our love’s not predictable nor perfect—it’s bent. And bent’s okay. But when outside factors put our relationship to the test, what lengths will I have to go to prove to him that he’s worth the fight?

Whoever said love is patient and love is kind, never met the two of us. We know our love is worth it—have acknowledged that we were meant to be—but when our pasts crash into our future, will the repercussions make us stronger or break us apart?

So, I am a huge fan of Kristy Bromberg. I loved Driven and Fueled and have waited a long time for Crashed. I had very high expectations for this book and was worried it was not going to live up to the hype.  WELL IT DID....AND THEN SOME!!

This book was a page turner from beginning to motherf*#king end. Some authors will use fillers to make the book longer. She absolutely did not. I felt like I was on edge with every page. Towards the end I even found myself talking to myself saying..."What?!" and "Oh..my..god." There was also a LOT of gasping and sighing as well.  I finished the book in one day and went to bed with a massive headache and a stuffy nose from crying so much!

I don't want to give away anything, I will just tell you that this entire trilogy is a MUST READ and CRASHED WAS AN EXCELLENT ENDING TO THE SERIES! I give it 5 stars, if there were 10 stars available....I would give it 11 :) Great Job Kristy, I was so honored to have been introduced to the guys!

K. Bromberg is that reserved woman sitting in the corner that has you all fooled about the wild child inside of her--the one she lets out every time her fingertips touch the computer keyboard. She’s a wife, mom, child rustler, toy pick-er-upper, chauffer, resident web-slinger, LaLaloopsy watching, American Girl doll dressing multi-tasker of all things domestic and otherwise. She likes her diet cokes with rum, her music loud, and her pantry stocked with a cache of chocolate.

 K. lives in Southern California with her husband and three children. When she needs a break from the daily chaos of her life, you can most likely find her on the treadmill or with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good, saucy book.

Fueled is K. Bromberg’s second published novel and is the highly anticipated second book of “The Driven Trilogy.” Driven was her well-received debut novel and Book #1 of the series.
