Blog Tour - Can't Go Home by Angelisa Stone

Everyone has secrets; secrets meant to be kept—hidden away where nobody can discover the truth.  Adrian O’Donnell (aka: Dre Donley) is no exception.  Dre spins tales and half-truths like it’s his job, keeping the reality of his past buried deep within each lie he fabricates.  On the other hand, Kathryn Howell is the exception to the rule.  She’s a straight-shooter, a tell-it-like-it-is, no filter kind of girl.

Kathryn’s honesty and straightforwardness is the ultimate turn on for a guy like Dre.  He’s never met someone so sincere, so full of truth and innocence.  Their chemistry is unavoidable, their connection, magnetic.  When Dre sets out to make Kathryn fall for him, he doesn’t realize the grave mistake he’s making.  Kathryn’s strength and convictions do not falter, even for an irresistible man like Dre. When his past resurfaces, and the lies come tumbling forth, Kathryn must decide if his deceit and betrayal can be forgiven or if the damage is irreparable. Will the truth ultimately destroy the relationship that neither one of them could deny or even attempt to resist?

This novel is for mature readers only, due to language and sexual content.

Who is Angelisa Stone?

Angelisa Stone is a typical Midwestern wife and mom, frazzled by parenting and housework, and overwhelmed with sports schedules, doctor appointments, and three-dimensional creative projects due “tomorrow morning.”  Angelisa dreams of white sandy beaches, clear-blue waters, and Midori coladas in hand, but realizes that her loving husband and four not-so-perfect children are her real dreams-come-true.  Writing and reading are her passions, and she hopes (and prays with her fingers tightly crossed) that readers will find enjoyment and escape through her words and characters.

“Little late getting back from lunch, eh?” I ask as Kathryn gets out of her car.

“I didn’t realize my stalker was keeping track of the time clock,” she says, uncapping her lip-gloss.

Fuck.  She is not going to put that on in front of me.  Don’t do it.  Don’t.  Don’t. Aww fuck, she is.  The stick thing glides over her bottom lip, layering her lip in a thick, wet shine.  Holy shit.  I can think of quite few other things that I’d want to trail over those sexy lips.

“Hey Dre, cat got your tongue?” Kathryn asks, winking at me.  Well, well, well, what do we have here? Kathryn Howell is flirting with me.  This is a strange turn of events.

“No Ma’am, the cat most certainly does not have my tongue.  I can do anything you’d like me to with my tongue…anything,” I say, seeing her sexual innuendo, and doubling and raising anything she may add.

Fanning herself, she says, “It’s getting too hot for my blood; I fold,” she announces, walking to the office door.  “Seriously though, what brings ya back to the Agency?” she asks coyly.

“I wanted to see if a certain literary agent wanted to have dinner tonight,” I admit.

“If she’s an agent, then she’s probably ‘booked’ for the night,” she says, cracking herself up.  I groan at her cheesy joke.  “Ba-dump-ba! I’m here all night, folks.”

Kathryn Howell is adorable.  She’s corny, quirky, and sexy too.  I can’t take my eyes off of her.  Smiling, Kathryn says, “Well, what’s her name?  I’ll ask her when I get inside.”

“Katie something or other.  Just tell her I’ll be out here tonight at 5:30,” I say, starting to walk away.  I stop, turn around, and add, “If she’s not here by 5:45, then I’m hitting up that waitress, ‘Allie with i.’ I hear she’s got crabs, but I’ll take my chances.”

Laughing, she says, “I’ll let her know. Wouldn’t want those all-you-can-eat-crabs spreading all over town.”  Kathryn waves, turns to leave, but stops, and then looks back at me to add, “Oh…and Dre, please don’t call me ‘Katie.’ I hate it.”

“Then you’ll never hear me say it again,” I promise her.  A grin travels all the way across her face; you can even see the smile in her eyes.  I thought she might be a little hard to get, but this was going smoothly—very smoothly.

Blog Tour - Withstanding Me by Crystal Spears

While the chaos and bloodshed have slowed for a short period, life is never quiet in the world of Breakneck. The club is taking time to regroup from internal betrayal and the changing of the guard in a rival group.

Zig Zag became a father at the age of thirteen. While raising a child has never been easy, now his eighteen year old daughter Tatiana makes his life downright hard. She has caught the eye of Travis, the new President of the rival MC Gunners, but all she really wants is Shadow, the newest addition to the Breakneck family. When Shadow’s rejection sends Tatiana running from the only family, home, and safety she’s ever known, ZZ is crazy with worry. The distraction caused by Tatiana’s disappearance could prove to be Zig Zag’s downfall.

If that isn’t enough, ZZ finds himself rampantly attracted to the one and only Storm. She’s beautiful, quick and witty. Their friendship is the one thing that keeps him from growing crazy, and Storm stands by ZZ through all the turmoil. Zig Zag is not accustomed to hearing the word no, so Storm’s constant withstanding just draws him in deeper. Their friendship is one thing keeping him from going crazy, until one night…

The club is regrouping and rebuilding from the mayhem known as the Russian Mafia. A hit is ordered on Tatiana, Storm, Winter, and Piper.

Tatiana’s egg donor reveals secrets that a thirteen year old Zig Zag was too young to understand.

Braxxon is out of reach while he helps Greg Cage deal with some dirty business.

Bloodshed… Secrets… Betrayal… Trauma… Welcome back to the Breakneck world.

Crystal resides in Indiana with her family, her dog Dozer and two fancy rats. She enjoys the outdoors and in the summer you will rarely catch her at home. Her other passions aside from writing are dancing and photography. She is a retired blogger and professional book reviewer.

She is the Bestselling Author of Seize Me. She is currently working on the second novel in her “Breakneck Series”
.

Withstanding Me, ZZ and Storm’s story, is the second book in the Breakneck Series. The books may be read as standalones, but  as always, you will have a more in-depth understanding of the characters if you start at the beginning with Seize Me.

ZZ has never been in love. Ever. In fact, the only women he’s felt any true emotion for have been blood relatives. He’s also not used to hearing the word, “no”, until he sets Storm in his sights and won’t look away. The very emotion that Storm invokes in him is foreign and confusing.
“How much longer are you gonna keep withstanding me, darlin’?”

… And what she says blows my fucking mind wide open.

“Just until you fall in love with me,” she says seriously.

Love? “I don’t fall in love, baby.”

She slowly backs away smiling. “Oh, but you will and it’ll be with me,” she says with a wink.

Fuck Me.

Storm.  I tend to think her life has been more of a hurricane or tsunami… The name Storm just seems too tame for the misery she’s endured.  Loveless childhood, human trafficking, rape, drug abuse.  I’m glad they don’t call her Sunshine. Despite her past, she has a remarkably positive personality and sticks to her standards on how she should be treated.

I enjoyed reading Withstanding Me. At times it was a little tricky keeping all the different POVs straight (since you don’t just hear from ZZ and Storm) but I can see where the author is creating leads for the new Breakneck stories to follow.  I look forward to reading future books and seeing more of the characters from the first two.

Mercurial and charming, Tate Larson is a rising author and playboy who has a different woman on his arm every night of the week. Focused on his work, Tate has no plans to settle down any time soon. That is until he meets his pretty new assistant, Piper Donovan.

Desperate to escape the promise of backwater living, Piper ditched her Alabama hometown and never looked back. That was almost two years ago. Now that she is out of a job and her bank account is running on fumes, she’s desperate to find a job, fast. She finds the break she is searching for when she lands a position at Bookish Temptations. A little dancing and a lot of drinks with the girls seem the perfect way to celebrate. After a brief but explosive encounter with a man she was never supposed to see again turns out to be the same man she will be bending over backwards to please, her every instinct tells her to run. But when running means leaving the life she has struggled so hard to create, Piper decides her only option is to continue working for the devastatingly sexy Tate Larson...even if it kills her.

Unable to deny their growing attraction, they struggle to keep their distance in a relationship that requires anything but.

J.C. Valentine is the alter-ego of Brandi Salazar, whose enjoyment of erotic tales of romance spurred her to branch out and create her own.

Brandi Salazar lives in the Northwest with her husband, their wild children, and far too many pets. As a university student, she studies literature, which goes well with her dream to become an editor. Brandi entertains a number of hobbies including reading and photography, but her first love is writing fiction-in all its forms.

I received an ARC of That First Kiss in exchange for an honest review.

That First Kiss is the second book in the Night Calls Series by J.C. Valentine. The books can be read as standalones, but really the novella Stranded is just as hot, so you’ll probably want to read that too.

Piper Donovan needs her job so she doesn’t have to leave Chicago and return to Alabama, giving up the new life she’s created for herself. With a supportive and comical group of friends, she feels like she has more of a family than ever before. Piper’s problem is that the job she’s so desperate to keep requires her to work for the world’s biggest asshole, Tate Larson.

“The job sounded more like adventures in extreme babysitting if you asked her, but she needed it, so she couldn’t exactly turn it down. Not unless she wanted to reserve a room at chez double-wide for the foreseeable future.”

Sexy and smart, Tate Larson is a passionate author (read: overbearing jerk face) who can’t keep an assistant. With his demanding, domineering, and rude demeanor, the man makes it practically impossible for anyone to put up with him.

“What a man like Tate needs is a good hard slap of reality, a woman strong enough to put him in his place and keep him there.”

What neither expect, is that their mutual attraction coupled with their mutual dislike will cause the sparks to fly… and those sparks are the kind that catch sheets on fire!!!

That First Kiss has some very sexy bits coupled with some very funny bits which result in an exceedingly enjoyable book. Piper and her friend Sheila had me highlighting one-liners so I can try to use them in my own life - and when I do you can trust I will credit J.C. Valentine and send people towards this entertaining and engaging read.

Piper when talking to Tate’s mom about Tate: “No offense, but how does a woman as sweet as yourself give birth to a demon spawn?” {Aahahaaa!! This makes me want to call some of my ex-boyfriends mamas just so I can say that!}

The chemistry between Piper and Tate is so palpable and real I could feel it in my chest. It’s as if they are two magnets repelling each other - all they need is a little flip to be completely inseparable.
I can’t wait for J.C. Valentine’s next book!

5 Stars and a big ol’ smile

Chelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming. Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice. Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series. Her love for reading has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in the works. When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in. She hates being serious and is still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.
