Title: No Regrets
Series: Bomar Boys #1
Author: Jess Bryant
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Romanced by the Cover
Release Date: August 23, 2016

Blurb

Every small town has that one family that’s more savage than civilized. The ones that are more myth and legend than man. In Old Settlers, Oklahoma that’s the Bomar boys. Wild, reckless and vicious, they skirt the line of criminal and trip over it more often than not. They are their own punchline: white trash but proud beyond compare. Dirty and dangerously sexy, it’s best to steer clear of them or else risk your life… and your heart. These are their stories.

Jemma Buxton was running scared. She’s running home. But she had no idea she was running straight into his arms.

Fleeing an abusive relationship, she left everything behind. Her life. Her hopes. Her dreams. But not her heart. She wants to move on, start over and love again, but can she trust the first boy she ever loved with her bruised heart when he’s already broken it once?

Cash Bomar never thought he would see her again. Never thought she would come back to their tiny, backwoods town. Not after he cruelly and purposefully broke her heart and all but sent her away five years ago.

Seeing her again is the surprise of a lifetime and the fact that she needs his help is the second chance he never expected to make things right. All his life he’s been told he was nothing but bad, worthless and white trash, but she makes him want to be better. Can he convince the only girl he’s ever let close, ever loved, that she was always meant to be his?

They both have pasts they wish they could change. A history together they’ll have to overcome. Can they build a future together without a lifetime of regrets?

*No Regrets is the first book in the Bomar Boys series but can be read as a stand-alone. Each book features one couple and a HEA but will build on each other so they are best read in order.

**Warning** - This book contains explicit language, sexual scenes and violence. Though not depicted, mentions of domestic violence are key to the story and can be a trigger for some.

Excerpt

As a sea of women disperse, a tall figure stands, and my heart hammers against my chest wall, like I’m standing on a wire, high in the sky, between two skyscrapers.

“Cinderella,” he says, his voice shallow, but sure of himself.

“Don’t call me that,” I respond, my feet frozen in place.

“Who is that?” Jen asks from behind me.

“That is Ella’s first love, Crosby Lynch.”

“I thought Liam was her first boyfriend?” Jen questions, her voice slowly fading to background noise.

Crosby breaks the small distance between us, and I swallow the large lump in my throat. My body screams for me to run or to pinch myself out of this dream, but his eyes still mesmerize me into submission.

“No, she and Crosby are destined.”

I hold my hand up in the air to stop Brax from rehashing history.

Crosby is still breathtakingly gorgeous. His dark hair is shorter and messy, and those hazel eyes still hold a glint of the devil in them. The cocky smile plastered on his face as he shoves his hands in his pockets, almost has me jumping in his arms and thanking him for coming back for me. But one question overrides my body.

“How long are you here?” I ask, bitterness lacing my voice.

He tilts his head. “Until graduation.” He glances to Brax. “My guess anyway.”

That cocky smile grows as the lump in my throat shrinks.

Quickly, the room starts spinning, and my breathing becomes more labored. He’s the new baseball player I heard Coach Lipton talking about.

“Oh my God.” My hand lies over my heart, and I close my eyes, trying to find my bearings, but the room continues to spin.

“Get her to the damn couch, Boy Dreamy!” Jen hollers.

Crosby grabs my elbow. His touch is so warm, so comforting, so safe. He guides me to the couch, but instead of setting me down, he places me on his lap. My eyes float around the room. Girls’ eyes are now glowering at me, Brax’s eyes are studying me, and Jen’s eyes show her pure ignorance to how serious tonight just became. As my eyes circle back to Crosby, I see he’s smiling again, his thumb brushing along my hip bone, as though we’d warped back to our senior year of high school.

“You okay?” he asks, his voice snapping me out of the haze.

I fall from my abrupt movement to flee from his lap, but spring up to my feet. “I’m fine. Fine. Why wouldn’t I be?” I ramble, fiddling with my hands while tapping my toes. “I mean, you’re here. In Ridgemont. Playing baseball and living in this house.” My vision shoots to Brax. “With Brax. Why would I not be okay?”

I look over to Jen, who’s finding way too much amusement in my predicament.

“Man, whoever you are, you’ve unglued Miss Perfect, and I love it.” She smiles wide at Crosby and then places her hand out in front of him. “I’m Jen, this crazy girl’s roommate.”

Crosby takes her hand. “I’m Crosby, perfect girl’s soon-to-be boyfriend.” He shakes her hand, his eyes on me.

“Ha. I love it. You are perfect for her.”

She turns to me as I swallow down my anxiety, glaring at a still shirtless Brax. Maybe he could have been more specific at the door. Then again, who am I kidding. I’d give up my envied internship for a chance to see Crosby.

“You need to dump the fucktard and take this man up on his offer.” She thumbs toward Crosby.

I throw my hands up in the air.

“You have a boyfriend?” Crosby’s voice is low and has lost the confidence it held moments ago.

My fidgeting stops, and our eyes lock. Hurt floods out of his eyes and most likely mine as well.

“I need a drink.” I spin around, knocking into a dancing couple. I straighten myself and determinedly head toward the kitchen.

“A boyfriend?” His deep voice rings out above the music.

I grab a cup and start filling it up with beer.

The room quiets, and all eyes are on him. It’s like déjà vu. Eyes have always lingered on Crosby, his whole life, when he was the star baseball player in high school and even when he wasn’t. His charismatic personality mixed with his talent give him a presence in any room.

The damn tap is only pouring foam, and in frustration, I smack it on the pile of ice, dumping the Solo cup on top of it.

His strong hand picks up the cup, and he grabs the spout. The muscles in his forearm flex while he’s pumping the tap. Unable to gain the composure I need to look at him, I stare down at his hand pouring me the perfect beer.

Our fingers brush in the exchange of the cup, and my whole body tingles, aware that my first love is back. Needing to brace myself, I lean against the wall, acting nonchalant by bringing the cup to my lips.

Even if this isn’t my typical college night, I sure as hell need to act like I’m not facing the only guy to make my heart ricochet against my chest wall.

“I’m sorry. I have no right to be angry,” he says, standing to my right with his back to the wall.

“You left me,” I whisper, relieved that the noise level has picked back up. I’m not even sure I want him to hear my admission.

His arm is no longer pressed to my shoulder, and I calculate he’s moving. Then, his shoes come into my view of the floor.

“What are you talking about? We left each other. That was the point.” He rolls back on his heels.

“You’re right. That was the point. Why are you here?” We made a pact, an agreement, that we would not contact one another.

“Can we please go somewhere else to talk?” he whispers back.

His hand reaches out, and I sway forward. My body heats up, the closer his hand grows to my cheek. He’s a millimeter away when he retracts, only igniting a burning in my flesh for his touch.

“Yeah.”

He nods his head in the direction of the living room but says nothing. When he heads toward the staircase, I stop walking.

“Not upstairs.”

He halts on the first step and peers around to find somewhere else. There are bodies everywhere, each corner already occupied with a couple or a cluster of girls. The house is not an option, and I wish the hope of being alone with him wasn’t so prevalent.

“Walk?” he asks.

I nod and down my beer, needing something to numb the pain in my body.

As we leave the baseball house, the situation is eerily similar to two years ago—when we intentionally hurt each other.

Excerpt

Angie stretched, and for the first time in days, it hardly hurt at all. Okay, it still hurt like a bitch, but she wasn’t going to admit it. She had plans. Admitting she was hurting was not going to get her what she wanted. She threw off the covers and meandered into the kitchen.

“That smells really good, what is it?”

“Chicken stir-fry and noodles.”

Her mouth watered. She slid by him, a lot closer than necessary, to grab a water glass out of the cupboard.

“Let me get that.” He handed her the glass, and lightly touched her waist in the process.

She put her hand on top of his. “You can press harder. I’m not made of glass.” She grinned.

Finn frowned. “Are you trying to tell me you’re not in pain still? Because I’m not buying it. I’ve had broken ribs.”

“Just one rib is broken. One,” she reminded him. “And my waist is fine.”

“I saw your hip.”

Angie pressed her finger to his lips. “I just wanted some water.” He raised an eyebrow. “Okay, and to brush up against you. I am doing better, except my neediness level is off the chart.”

He gently cupped her hips and brought her closer. She felt his heat, his strength, his desire. She wiggled against his erection. He hissed in a breath. “My neediness level is pretty damn high too. I think it needs to be measured.”

Angie blinked, and threw back her head and laughed. He moved, thrust his fingers into her hair, and drew her in for a kiss, the likes of which she had never experienced. His lips were a hard, hungry wonder making her open and beg for more.

His tongue swirled in, and her head spun with carnal bliss. She sucked him deeper, scraping him with her teeth, enjoying the growl that sent ripples to her core. He plunged in again, and she nipped his tongue. His large hand gripped her ass causing her nipples to harden and her pussy to weep. She jerked away, her eyes wide.

“Bedroom.” Was that husky purr her voice?

Her Boy Scout kissed the top of her head and turned to make sure all the burners were off. Then she was in his arms, and he was striding to her room.

“It smells like a strawberry field in here, but I know one thing that will smell even better.” She froze. Oh, he was not going to be like any of the polite Southern-Boy lovers of her past.

He set her down beside the bed. She crossed her arms in front so she could take off her blouse.

“Oh no, I get to unwrap my present.”

“Faster this way.” Then she did a stupid thing and tried to hurry, wincing in pain as she pulled off her top.

“Dammit, Angie,” came the muffled roar. “We do this my way, or not at all. Are we clear?”

“Yes, sir.” Would he stop if she saluted? No, he wouldn’t, not with the way he stared at her cleavage. Thank God for the power of boobs.

“You’re beautiful.”

“You’ve seen me before. As a matter of fact, I wasn’t wearing a bra.”

He looked up at her and shook his head. “That can be easily rectified.” Finn unclasped her bra and peeled it down her arms. Then he knelt in front of her, and cupped both breasts, and licked a nipple. Her legs lost all strength, and she would have fallen except for his fast action. He had her lying on the bed and stripped out of her slacks and panties in under a minute.

“Beautiful,” he reiterated.

Angie was still trembling from the one caress. He pulled his shirt off with that manly over the back, one armed tug, and she finally got to see the most gorgeous chest she had ever seen in her life. She held out her arms.

***

Angie still had bruising on her hip, and her ribcage was still wrapped with tape.. In no way, shape or form did it detract from her beauty. But it did make him very conscious of the fact that the formidable Angie Donatelli needed to be treated like spun glass.

“Now, Finn,” she commanded. That stopped him. What? She expected him to climb on board? What kind of lovers had she had in the past? He cupped her ankle and then trailed the backs of his fingers up the inside of her leg. Higher and higher, closer and closer to the bare mound that beckoned like a candle at midnight.

She squirmed, and parted her legs further so he was tempted, and finally he was there. Just a touch and she gasped his name. Delicate flesh he had to taste and savor. He needed this closeness like he needed his next breath. Finn nuzzled, and licked, as she shuddered and sighed. Carefully, he coaxed her over the edge, exalting in her cry of pleasure.

“Now, Finn,” she pleaded. He stepped off the bed and shucked his jeans, then grabbed a condom. He laid down beside her and gathered her close. She was trembling, and so was he. For the first time in months, he was close to finding something he needed, something clean and pure. She turned in his arms.

All pleading was gone. Her fingers traced his cheekbones. She kissed his forehead. His eyelids, his lips. She was killing him. “You’ve given me so much, Finn. You don’t see it. But I’ve never had someone stand beside me and want to protect me before.”

“I don’t understand,” he whispered. Her skin was so soft as he touched the shell of her ear.

“Of course, you don’t. Because you’re just being Finn Crandall. You’re the man I’m coming to love.” Finn froze, and had to have felt it. “Damn, too much, too soon, wasn’t it? How about the man I’m coming to lust?” She gave him a cheeky grin, and he his heart lurched. Ginger had made love a four letter word, he needed to reclaim it.

“Love, Angie. I like the word love a whole lot better. Lust is good, but love is what’s happening in this room—in this bed.”

“Then why did you tense up?”

“Bad memories. But you’re chasing them away.”

“I’m glad. Do you want to talk about it?” Her brown eyes a soft liquid brown.

He needed another kind of intimacy right then. “Later, I want this kind of love, first.” He bent down and parted her lips with his. The flavor of strawberries exploded across his senses. She stroked him with one hand, while the other pulled the condom wrapper from his hand.

“I can’t wait, I need you.” Her thumb glided over his tip, and he was close to losing it.

“Slow, I need this to last. We only have one first time, Lady, I want to savor it.”

Her breath hitched, and she kissed his chin. He brushed the arch of her brow, and gazed into her eyes. Then he stroked downward until he was once again cupping her breast, rolling her nipple to a swollen point.

“So good,” she sighed softly, was there pain in her sigh? He bent, and took the crest in his mouth, holding her gently down on the bed, and forcing her to keep still for his ministrations.

“Let me move.”

“No. It hurts you.”

“Staying still hurts more.”

She had so much to learn. He squeezed, and she cried out. “Just lie there and enjoy this. I need to touch you, please you. I can’t stand the thought of you in pain.” He tenderly clasped her delicate flesh, loving how her breath caught.

“Again.”

He obliged, and then his thumb rasped over her nipple, again and again. She made a small move, and he stopped.

“Finn?”

“You move and I stop, that’s the game.”

“I don’t like that game.” He softly grasped her nipple with his teeth, and she shrilled with pleasure as his tongue worked the nub. The moment she moved he stopped.

“I. Hate. This. Game.”

“I don’t want you to be in pain.”

“There’s a part of me that is painfully achy. Painfully empty.” She smiled. He licked her nipple one last time, and then kissed her beautiful smile. She drew him in, he gloried in the closeness and realized she was right. He found the wrapper, and she helped to get the protection in place, doubling the amount of time it took with four hands attempting the task.

Their laughter filled the bedroom, then they looked at one another and realized the moment had finally come.

“Finn?” her voice trembled.

“I have you.” Had it ever been more important? He watched her languid expression of joy as he slowly slid home. She tried to lift, but he held her still. “Just squeeze baby.” He felt her clutch, and sweat broke out all over his body. She gave him a dazed smile as she clenched in a sweet rhythm with his every thrust.

“This is incredible,” she breathed.

“It’s you. You take my breath away, Lady.” Faster, but still careful, he moved. She gripped him tighter and made the sweetest sounds of passion. Her nails dug into his ass, as she pushed upwards, and he thrust harder and faster, loving her tight pulsing.

He watched as her eyes glazed over and she started to tremble. He continued his loving strokes, and watched as she flew, then he followed. When he came back to himself, he realized he had finally found redemption.
