Anchor picks up right where Sail left off (and you really must read the first two before diving into this one). After the traumatic events that unfolded in Sail, Casey and Blake are finally together, and Blake is healing. There is much healing to be done—emotionally, physically, mentally—in all the ways, Blake is working on herself, and Casey is helping her. These two are so fiercely devoted to each other—their love has just grown so much over the course of the series; it is intense and captivating and utterly swoonworthy. The conflict level in this book is low, though there are still some trials they suffer, and lots of past issues they have to work through. The worst of it is over though. They’ve found each other and, finally, belong to each other.
Everything that I loved about Bait and Sail showed up again in Anchor. The adorable banter (I don’t know if any two characters have ever teased each other as adorably as Casey and Blake), the steamy hot love scenes that rendered me glassy-eyed and panting at my kindle, and the genuine, pure love that flows out of both of them in waves, taking my breath away and making me swat away pesky, emotional tears.
Casey is the ultimate boyfriend/husband—sexy, confident, funny, sensitive and affectionate. And Blake? She’s finally all in and finally the kind of woman that Casey deserves. Their love has been hard fought and full of angst, but the payoff is nothing short of amazing.
What a ride this series has been. I remember reading Bait and having totally love/hate feelings throughout almost the entire book. It was so cleverly written and engaging, but it also royally pissed me off. Sail was like a salve for the wounds left from the emotional turmoil of Bait—there was so much growth, and watching Casey and Blake figure their shit out was incredibly rewarding. And then…the twist left my heart shredded and broken. So, Anchor feels like a reward after the thorough thrashing M. Mabie has given my heart. There could not have been a more perfect ending for Lou and Betty—touching, beautiful, breathtaking and joyful.
