Review - Remembering Everly by J.L. Berg

Title: Remembering Everly
Series: Lost & Found #2
Author: J.L. Berg
Release Date: April 5, 2016

After a stunning cliffhanger ending in Forgetting August, USA Today bestselling author J.L. Berg delivers the happily ever after that fans have been waiting for in the sequel, REMEMBERING EVERLY.

He's forgotten his past, but it hasn't forgotten him. After losing two years of his life trapped in a coma, August Kincaid will do anything to win back the love of his life. But his past threatens to destroy his second chance at happiness, it's Everly who is in danger of paying for his crimes.

This was the conclusion to August and Everly's story, and J.L. Berg has done it once again—knocking it out of the book world. I wasn't sure how this was going to play out, though I was really hoping they would finally get their HEA.

Gah!!! This story just gutted me because I could see the love these two had for each other, yet because of the obstacles in their lives, they weren't able to be together. Despite it all, August knew what he had to do if he ever wanted an opportunity with Everly again, and nothing and no-one would stop him.

To me the love they had was an unbelievably true one, and beautifully written. Their battle was so realistic, because nothing ever comes easily, especially when you find that one who’s captured your heart and refuses to let it go.

The closer I got to the end, the more I started worrying and chanting, “Please, oh please, don't let that happen… Come on now, J.L. Berg, give me that HEA!”

The conclusion of Remembering Everly was just breathtakingly beautiful!! I am sad it’s over, but will patiently await what J.L. Berg will share with us next!

Wow, just wow… Remembering Everly picks up right where Forgetting August ended… with August remembering exactly how he ended up in a coma that lasted two years. He also remembers all the heartache he caused Everly, and the lies he told her in a misguided attempt to keep her safe. As August attempts to rebuild his life, he is doing it without Everly by his side.

But August’s heart isn’t quite on board with this separation. He’d do anything for a second chance to have Everly in his life, in his bed again for good. But first August needs to face the darkest demons of his past and exorcise them out of his life in order to really move on once and for all.

Whoa. Man, my heart just broke for both Everly and August. Neither one able to move on without the other—but neither one willing to let down their walls and allow the truth to seep inside their hearts. August was willing to let Everly go as long as she was safe from his mistakes, but honestly, his biggest mistake was letting Everly go in the first place. Remembering Everly keep me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages to see exactly how their story would end. And it was an ending that was nearly perfect…

Review - Forgetting August by J.L. Berg

Title: Forgetting August
Series: Lost & Found #1
Author: J.L. Berg
Release Date: December 1, 2015

She can forgive, but can she forget?

Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore.

August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man.

Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . .

I have no idea where to begin with this incredibly emotional love story. The prologue captured my attention and refused to let it go, and what a ride it was. Emotionally, I felt drained and just wanted to scream my heart out because I could not believe this was it...I'm still trying to recuperate from this!!!

August Kincaid was fun, loving, sweet and carefree, yet over the years he changed to become manipulative and controlling… He was no longer the man Everly had fallen in love with, and she didn't understand why or what had happened.

August loved Everly with all his heart and he made her happy—that was all he cared about. But things started to change, and his want to take care and provide for her had him making decisions he thought were the best but, little did he know, were far from that.

The funny thing is that many of us try to make the best decisions possible when it comes to those we love, but fail to look in the mirror to see if those decisions are changing us for the better or worse. That is what happened to August with Everly! One thing led to another, and now that August has a "second" chance at making things right with Everly, she wants nothing to do with him. To be honest, I couldn't blame her—especially with the memories she keeps replaying in her mind.

I felt for August because he didn't remember a thing and all he wanted was to be the man Everly had fallen in love with years ago, and how I wished they could go back to that time. Their story had me hypnotized wishing, hoping and praying it would work out for them and I felt it was happening. But then, all hell breaks loose…

I will leave at that but one thing is for sure, this is not the end for them. It’s merely the beginning of their love story because no matter what life throws at you, true love ALWAYS prevails in the end!!

August Kincaid wakes up after a two-year coma with no memory of his past. A past that includes Everly and the unforgivable hurt that he caused her. If only he could remember, he’d make amends, because this August wants to be a better man—he wants to be the man that Everly deserves. If only she’d let him.

Everly has tried to move on from her past with August. But she can’t forget nor can she reconcile the feelings she’s having for this “new” August. Feelings that she shouldn’t be having because he caused her so much pain and heartbreak in the past.

As they get to know each other again, Everly and August’s hearts are overruling their heads. But once the secret of their past is revealed, one of them needs to make a choice for their future—but is it the right one?

Wow. I really enjoyed the last half of this story—and the ending. Holy shit! But I did struggle a little to get into it—the back and forth decisions of Everly got a bit old, but once a decision was made, wow, I was all in!

The chemistry between Everly and August in undeniably hot. And I’m DYING to know what happens in Remembering Everly
