Spotlight Review Tour - Picture Perfect by Elisabeth Grace

Title: Picture Perfect
Series: Limelight #2
Author: Elisabeth Grace
Release Date: March 31, 2014

*****THIS BOOK CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE*****

Being the daughter of a big-city mayor, twenty-one year old Skye Summers has giant shoes to fill in her first real job out of college. With the public spotlight on her family, and her dad’s expectations running high, she jumps at the chance to work side-by-side on an important project with her sexy new boss.

Playboy entrepreneur Landon Steele has built a successful entertainment PR firm and broken more than a few hearts along the way. He’s counting on his enthusiastic new assistant to help him expand his business into LA… until he discovers she’s a pampered rich girl who’s in the public spotlight as much as his famous clients. Still, he agrees to give her a chance, and soon the two are heating up the bedroom as well as the boardroom.

But when Skye’s ex-boyfriend threatens to reveal a dangerous secret from her past, her job, relationship with Landon, and her father’s career are suddenly all on the line. Will she be forced to leave Landon? Or will she pursue her heart, regardless of the cost?

***3.5 Sweet Stars!***

Picture Perfect is the second book in the standalone Limelight series and focuses on Skye and Landon’s story. We met Skye as Ellie’s roommate and bestfriend in Rumor Has It, the first book in the series. I liked Skye in the first book and was happy to read about her own story.

This book is an easy read, a fun, light one but still with steamy parts. If you’re up for a lighter read, you might want to give this a try.

pictureperfect_tease.jpg

The characters are also likeable, surprisingly, no snobby politician/parents or malicious, jealous co-workers, I liked that. Landon seems like a hot, good boss to me too. I mostly enjoyed until the last few chapters where Skye and Landon faced a “bump” in their relationship. I understand the need for a “problem” but I just didn’t feel much for it. It felt like a last-minute detail rather than a problem to be solved, which was also very easily resolved after like one chapter.

Overall, Picture Perfect provides a cute, drama-less love story which I very much appreciate!

Stars: 3.5 stars!
Recommended to: Those who would like to take a break from heavy romance and still read something sweet and a little steamy.
POV: First person. Dual POV.
Series: Yes. But standalone.
Cliffhanger: No.

Things I can tell you that sum me up...I'm a sugar and carb addict, self-professed Gandy Girl, a disaster in the kitchen, a LOVER of all music, I enjoy reality TV and I'm an early riser! When I have a moment to breath you can usually find me typing furiously on the keyboard to get my next story on paper, or curled up reading about someone else's HEA.

Blog Tour - Dazed by Kim Karr

Title: Dazed
Series: Connections #2.5
Author: Kim Karr
Release Date: April 1, 2014

Jagger Kennedy never went looking for fame, he just fell into it. After scoring a major modeling contract, his clean-cut good looks and charm catapulted his career. But when his actress girlfriend breaks his heart, he moves to L.A. to try his hand at acting. He needs to make a change, and the last thing he’s looking for is love…

Aerie Daniels is a woman in control … until she meets Jagger. Her surprising connection with him leaves her stunned, and it’s unlike anything she’s ever felt. But just when she lets her walls fall, she makes a startling discovery about him that breaks her fragile heart into a million pieces.

To keep from losing the one woman he can’t bear to be without, Jagger is willing to give up anything—including his career. But even that might not be enough to regain Aerie’s shattered trust…

I seem to keep coming back for more of Kim's books. I am absolutely IN LOVE with Jagger. Adding him to my BBF list.

I am always hunting for hot steamy sexy reads that catches my eyes. And this was one of those!

When Aerie meets Jagger the attraction is instant.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Jagger not having slept with anyone else since he had his heart broken by his past girlfriend and a hottie who can cook, made me love him even more. Aerie being clumsy and all was totally cute. Jagger always coming to her rescue when that happens gives me the tingles all over my body like a teenager, all blushing while reading that part of the story.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The story ended with an HEA, which I am a total sucker for. This book was kind of short but gives you all the details of how Jagger and Aerie fell in love. I am looking forward on reading more of Kim Karr's books. The short journey ended how I expected it to end.

**4 Alice in Wonderland Stars**

large.jpg

Dazed is a sweet novella centering on Dahlia's best friend, Aerie Daniels and River Wilde's cousin, Jagger Kennedy.  I adored this book on its simplicity of connecting two people. The characters were likable and lovable and you couldn't help but connect with them. Jagger is really a sweet guy who helped Aerie to open up and try new things. I love how Jagger called her "Alice," since he took her on adventure of rediscovering herself. The only thing I have to complain about it was that it was too short. I honestly wanted to read more about Jagger and Aerie. Thank you Ms. Karr for another great story... Dazed was a sweet addition to the Connection series.

***4 Sweet Cupcakes and Dazed Stars!***

Dazed is a Connections novella and tells us the story of Aerie, Dahlia’s best friend, and Jagger, River’s cousin.

The scene at the first few pages got me all warm and smiling, it’s so cute and sweet that I imagined it happening like in the movies, or at least in one of those romantic TV show episodes.
Aerie Daniels

Aerie Daniels.png

The independent heroine, supportive friend, sweet, emotional girlfriend who finally found her missing O. She’s the niece of a former rockstar whose life is going to be in the movies and the daughter to parents who also worked in the entertainment industry.

Aerie is an easy-to-like to heroine, I even enjoyed reading all about her quirks and finding it adorable and funny. She sticks to the familiar, she likes order and organization to the point that she has her closet divided in half for “work” and “play” and she orders the same food in her most frequented restaurants. Aerie doesn’t trust easily and has reservations when it comes to her emotions, especially romantic ones. But when she’s committed to you, she’s fiercely loyal and supportive.

Jagger Kennedy

Jagger Kennedy.png

*sigh* Jagger is the handsome, easygoing, and totally lovable cousin of River Wilde. He is a model-slash-actor from NYC and he was in town to maybe relocate and to audition for the part of Ian Daniels, for the movie, No Led Zeppelin. Jagger is spontaneous, likes to try different things, so imagine how that goes with Aerie’s Type A personality? Amusing!

He’s a also a very funny character but oh so, steamy, like fan-yourself-nonstop smokin’ guy.

The Alice Love Story

I love how Jagger calls Aerie, Alice and I love the scene how that nickname came about. There was no beating around the bushes, drama, frustrating denial of attraction between those two. Their chemistry is just there, open, welcome, all sugary sweet and spicy hot.

Dazed_teaser.jpg

Their attraction grew into friendship, an easy one, and eventually moved on to something more. I liked how their characters and personalities were introduced to us and that they slowly moved up the relationship ladder instead of diving in straight to being one hot couple without preamble.

I enjoyed reading Jagger and Aerie, their story somehow felt like a full novel to me if only it delved more into what happens in the No Led Zeppelin movie and how Aerie deals with Jagger working with his ex instead of how it ended,. But it was still good and didn’t take anything from Dazed and instead left me hoping for another peek on how their love would grow and face bumps along the way.

Stars: 4 stars!
Recommended to: Everyone looking for a good, quick, romantic read. Dazed won’t disappoint!
POV: First person. Female POV.
Series: Yes. But novella and standalone.
Cliffhanger: No.
EXTRA COMMENT: I hope to see them more in the next book!

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don't need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There's nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore--it's time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart. <3

Blog Tour - Rare and Precious Things by Raine Miller

Title: RARE AND PRECIOUS THINGS
(The Blackstone Affair Book 4)
Author: RAINE MILLER
Hosted by: The Book Avenue

The fourth part in the New York Times bestselling series, The Blackstone Affair: A bright beginning for two damaged souls fighting for their hard-won love, and the promise of a new hope to secure their happily ever after.

Fresh from an idyllic honeymoon along the Italian coast, the Blackstones prepare for the birth of their precious baby and the challenges of settling into a new home. But things get complicated when specters from the past reappear to threaten the very foundation of their relationship. Ethan and Brynne will have to fight harder than ever for each other. Rare and Precious Things is the story of two people who both need the other in order to be complete, but learn just how "rare" their brand of love is when they have to risk everything in order to hold onto it.

***5 Rare and Precious Stars!!!***

After waiting for months for the continuation, and sadly, the conclusion of Ethan and Brynne's story, Rare and Precious Things delivered a very touching, emotional, and happy wrap-up of the life of the Blackstones, and even their family and friends. And I’ve read this during my beach vacation!

Rare and Precious Things picks up right after Eyes Wide Open, the newly weds are off to their wedding night and honeymoon. Cue, the very hot sex scenes of Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Blackstone. Who would expect less?

Rare_teaser.jpg

Maybe I just waited long enough to read this or that I have in mind that this is the end (at least for now) for one of my favorite book couple, that while I was reading, I can't help the feeling of Raine Miller already tying up the loose ends, resolving issues and problems of both Ethan and Brynne, and of course, the anticipation for little baby Blackstone's arrival.

Ethan Blackstone is still the same hot, alpha, protective man that we know who is obviously in so deep with his American girl.

Rare_teaser3.jpg

In Rare and Precious Things, Ethan is now a husband and soon-to-be Dad who would give and do anything to protect and make sure his wife and child would always be safe. He’s even more hot in that way when men are protective of their woman but still doing it in an affectionate and loving (and okay, with a lot of “shagging” too) way. He’s willing to do anything, including facing his past and seeking help, just to be able to move forward.

Brynne Bennett Blackstone, the lucky lady who managed to effortlessly steal Ethan’s heart, who is so patient and understanding with his struggles, who loves him unconditionally, who is strong, brave, and speaks her mind. I’ve always admired Brynne and as Mrs. Blackstone, I admired her even more. She stood beside her husband, talks to him about what’s on her mind and how she’s feeling, there is no unnecessary drama from her, she’s willing to do anything, including facing her past, just to be able to move forward.

Rare_teaser4.jpg

We also get to see Ethan and Brynne’s friends and family here and they were all as lovely and as supportive as they’ve always been.

Fair warning though, if you are a book crier, prepare yourself for an emotional ride. I’ve cried several times in different parts of the book, and it’s not just because it’s "the end" but because of all the emotions going on with Ethan and Brynne as newly weds facing their pasts.

Those parts and Brynne missing her dad got to me. Because hello, who sunbathes and cries? Yes, me.

I love, love, love how Raine Miller resolved the Oakley issue from the past and present, how she interjected Thomas Bennett into the story, also how we are made to understand what really happened to Ethan in the war and what the cause of his nightmares are. Rare and Precious Things is as much as an answer to all our questions from Naked to All In to Eyes Wide Open as it is a conclusion to our beloved Blackstones.

Rare_teaser2.jpg

The ending was AMAZING!!! We get to see baby Blackstone and a glimpse of their family life 3 months after Brynne gave birth. Ethan was doting father, I love it!

Stars: 5 Purple-Raine stars!

Recommended to: Everyone who’s read the first 3 books in the series and want to read the Blackstones after the wedding. Loves strong hero and heroine, hot, steamy sex and a cute baby.

POV: First person. Dual POV. (I love dual povs!)

Series: Yes. Last book of the series.

Cliffhanger: No. But I’m hopeful for a novella.

“BELLA, you look magnificent, the glow in your cheeks, everything, is utter perfection.” Marco, kissed me on both cheeks as was custom, then held me at arm’s length for a thorough perusal. “Lovely dress. I can see that marriage and motherhood is agreeing with you, darling.”

I felt Ethan’s hand at my back soften and relax at Marco’s friendly, but appropriate greeting. Maybe he’d get over his paranoia that Marco was trying to bag me every time he photographed me. Ethan just didn’t understand that Marco wasn’t like that at all. He was a professional photographer doing a job with me, and nothing more. Well, nothing more than a working, platonic friendship. He’d always been kind to me, and I liked working with Marco Carvaletti very much. I hoped Ethan could see it here tonight as we all interacted.

“It is, Marco, and I don’t think I could be any happier.” I leaned into Ethan, nudging him to speak up.

“Mr. Carvaletti, thank you for the invitation. We’ve been looking forward to this all day.” Ethan lied smoothly, offering his hand, playing the social gentleman to perfection, which he was well skilled at. I guess he did it out of love for me. I knew he didn’t want to be here anymore than he wanted me modeling. I mouthed a thank you only visible to him. He kissed me on the cheek and whispered in my ear, “Don’t forget about Simba, baby.” Then he wandered off to get drinks for us.

Marco took me on a tour of his elegantly restored 17th century villa as I marveled at all of the art. He had a whole room set up as a gallery of his photographs. There were a couple of me in there. One where I sat in a formal chair with one knee up, strategically placed, my expression far away and pensive. The other pose was a side view recreation of a vintage Ziegfeld Follies girl with a feather boa and some satin pumps. It was one of the first portraits I posed for and I really thought it was nicely choreographed.

“It is a beautiful piece, bella. I knew when we did that series you had the gift.” Marco stood behind me admiring the image he had created with me as the subject.

“I was so nervous posing, but you made me laugh when you told me to imagine Iggy Pop in a dress.” I shrugged. “That broke the ice and I was fine after that.”

“That one works for me every time, bella.”

“Well, Iggy Pop in a dress is funny, so good job, Marco.” We laughed together and made our way back to the main gathering.

Where was Ethan with my drink? I scanned the room for sight of him, but didn’t see his tall form standing out among the crowd anywhere. And I needed water.

“He is talking to Carolina and Rogelio, my friends,” Marco said, correctly reading my quest to find Ethan. “I believe they have discovered they are acquainted already.”

Really? Ethan knew people at this party? I suppose it wasn’t as bad as he’d predicted it would be after all. Couldn’t wait to bust him about his whining to come here.

“Oh, well that’s great. I look forward to meeting them. But first, I need to get some water. I’m really thirsty after spending a long time swimming in the ocean today. Must be all the salt.”

“Come with me, bella, I will take care of you.”

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.
