I have to be honest and let you know that I had a really hard time getting into this book. I almost gave up around 25%, but I am really glad I didn’t. The story itself was very good; it was just very confusing at times being written in three different points-of-view as well as past and present.
 

This is a story of finding your soul mate.

“Aish.” His voice was tight with frustration, with fear. “I never want you to go. That’s the fucking problem.” But then being given a huge challenge of raising an autistic son. “He’s just like his mum – high maintenance, but worth the fight.”

And not being sure if you are cut out for this life, this challenge, and taking a break from it all.

Ryan and Aish are the perfect couple, or so it seems until their son comes along. Children change things in any marriage, but when you have an autistic child, the changes are harder. Ryan decides he needs a break and steps away from his family. While this happens, Aish goes missing. This story is about how the two meet, as well as finding Aish and what they learn along the way.
 

My favorite part of this book was the chapters from Patrick’s point-of-view and how he learned how to cope as sole caretaker of Eli while Aish is missing and Ryan is out surfing. Again, I did enjoy this book, it just took some time to really get into it.

Have I told you lately how much I freaking love Tillie Cole? No? Well, put it this way, if you haven't read any of her books you're doing yourself a disservice. They are always amazing. Always gut wrenching. Always HOT! Always so unbelievably original. Sweet Hope is the fourth book in Tillie's Sweet Home series. We finally get Ally's story and OMG, was this book worth the wait. I never know what to expect with one of this author's books, and as usual this one was certainly the same way. And our hero! I'm not going to give anything away because the blurb is mysterious, just like him. But it was totally unexpected and he was perfect. Ahhhh, dark, tortured, damaged. I LOVED him! Sweet Hope mixes high octane emotions, scorching hot love scenes and a story that's totally unputdownable. I tore through this book in no time. I really hope this isn't the end of the series and there's more to come because I don't ever want to leave these characters; they're part of my heart.  ~ Review by Erin

She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

I loved Wife Number Seven, so I was excited when I found out that Brinley and Porter were getting another book. This book is a novella so it's pretty short, but it had a good story line. The story starts three years later and over that time both characters have grown as people and as a couple, but Porter still struggles with his drug addiction and Brinley with being in the outside world.

I really felt for these characters because of what they had gone through. When they left the compound, they were all alone with no family. Facing the outside world was hard enough, but then they had to do it all alone. I liked how Porter wasn't perfect and that he struggled with his drug addiction because books don't usually have character that have problems like that. I loved how his sponsor Jesse became like a dad to him, because he needed someone to look up to and have as a father figure. Tiffany and Jesse are the only family Brinley and Porter have, but that's all they really need.

I really liked this story. Brinley and Porter are a great couple who grew up with undesirable circumstances but in the end, they came out on top and together. They managed to escape a world that wasn't right for them, and become themselves. It's a happy ending, which is what they deserve after the life they have lived. This is a great series by Melissa Brown and I can't wait to read Aspen's story.

Our first summer living together in Porter’s house, he introduced me to drive-in movies. Well, he introduced me to a bunch of things I’d never experienced before: movie theaters, miniature golf, rock climbing, fast food drive-throughs. and picnics in the field near our house. But my favorite, by far, was the drive-in movie theater. I’ll never forget that first night when Porter introduced me to the concept. I was new to living in the outside world. Movies and television, on the whole, were still new to me, but the idea of watching a movie outside was almost impossible to imagine. When we’d first arrived, I hadn’t been sure what to expect. The drive-in was out in the middle of nowhere, next to a shallow canyon. Dust flew inside the cab of Porter’s truck as we approached the ticket taker. The booth was rusted and painted an odd pistachio green. I eyed Porter, wondering just how long the drive-in had been in business. If the dilapidated state of the booth was any indication, it had been quite a while.

“It’s vintage.” He laughed as he pulled the truck away from the booth and approached the enormous movie screen.

“Kinda like me?” I teased, looking down at my modest outfit. Until recently, I’d only worn old-fashioned clothes and my hair in a long blond braid down my back.

“Nah, you’re classic, Brin. Classic.”

They were playing a marathon of old movies, the black-and-white kind. Honestly, I didn’t really understand the difference all that much until Porter explained that Clark Gable’s expressions and slang in It Happened One Night no longer translated in the modern world. I was captivated by the actor’s handsome, debonair onscreen persona. And I was equally fascinated by the hairstyles and costumes of his leading lady—the glamour of the actress, her perfectly made-up face and flawless skin. But most of all, I was entranced by the entire experience of watching a movie on a larger-than-life screen all from the bed of Porter’s truck, salt and butter from the freshly made popcorn lingering on my fingers.

The stars were bright above us as we lay in the bed of the truck. Fleece blankets softened the unyielding metal beneath us, and pillows cradled us comfortably as we lounged. Candy of all kinds and giant convenience-store sodas kept our bellies full and satisfied as we snuggled up together, my legs draped over his, and his arm resting comfortably beneath the small of my back. 

In a word, it was heavenly. And I don’t take that word lightly.

“That was romantic,” I said with a yawn on our drive back to the house.

Porter laughed. “You think so? Even though the place is falling apart?”

The wind blew through my hair and I nodded. “Yes. Thank you for taking me.” I slid closer to him and he wrapped his arm around me, placing a kiss on the top of my head.

“I love introducing you to stuff like this. Your expressions make it totally worth it.”

That comment made me self-conscious, knowing that in the grand scheme of things, I was still quite a fish out of water. I fidgeted with my hair and shifted in my seat. “I must look ridiculous.”

“Never,” he insisted, his voice serious. “It’s sweet. It’s like this look of wonder, ya know? You’re experiencing so many things for the first time, and I get to be there for it. Makes me feel really lucky.”

My nose had wrinkled in disbelief. “Really? Lucky?”

Porter had kissed my head again. “Every single day.”

It’s amazing that you can live somewhere for twenty-two years and never feel like you fit in, like you’re home. That night in his truck, I’d known I was finally home. Porter was the home I’d dreamed about for years.

The anthology kicks off with Off Duty by Sawyer Bennett. It was the story I was most anticipating, and it didn't disappoint. HOT. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Sawyer Bennett's work, and it's certainly fitting for Off Duty. Tim and Holly were scorching, and I loved how they came together, communicated and worked to make it work. Being a novella meant that this second-chance romance was able to stick to the highlights...chemistry that'll melt your heart and your e-reader, a little bit of what-if to keep it interesting, and a whole lotta swooning. It's a great start to the anthology, and got me ready for...

Rebound by Chelle Bliss, my first Chelle Bliss experience! And hell, what an opener -- to her work and to Rebound itself. It was hot, dirty and a lot of fun. Sam and Fiona were perfect together -- their quick connection was believable, which is important when considering the accelerated nature of a novella. It may have reached the end a little faster than I would have liked, but otherwise Ms. Bliss gave me a well-paced, well-formed, very sexy and very likable story. And a sudden desire to visit a fortune teller, or perhaps a hot hockey player like...

Jordie Thomas from Wanting to Forget by Toni Aleo. I wanted to like this book, I truly did. But I found myself frustrated and angry at Jordie and his behavior. Not having read any of the other books in this series, I felt perhaps I was missing a key character trait that made him desirable and redeemable, aside from his (admittedly sexy) beard and stellar bedroom skills.Wanting to Forget was exceptionally well-written and had a host of thigh-clenching, panty-soaking moments, but it was difficult for me to lose myself in this story when I couldn’t see past Jordie's a--holish behavior. Perhaps what I need instead is some hot M/M action from one of my favorite authors...

Kindle Alexander. What can I say about Closet Confession? I loved this hot little read! Justin and Derek (Dr. Baby, BTW, is an awesome nickname) were SCORCHING hot together. There were fun, surprising moments, and it felt like a complete, well-rounded story, despite the length. Their brief-but-OMG-I-need-a-cold-shower coupling was spot-on; I wouldn't change a thing about it but I also wouldn't say no to MORE from this sexy couple. Until then, though, maybe I can make do with a sexy Mechanical Services man and a lonely doctor, like...

Joss Drake and Carson Stephens in Healing Touch by Brenda Rothert. Oh my! This new-to-me author knocked my socks -- and maybe even my panties -- off with this sizzling novella, which boasts through-the-roof chemistry and a ton of flirty, playful banter. I think I smiled through 85% of this story. The other 15%, I was probably panting. The connection between Joss and Carson was intense and perfect -- I adored this couple! I'd have happily read about them for hours, and yet, their story felt complete. Which is good, because it means I can move on to...

Swimming in Shadows by Eden Butler. Let's all just take a moment to drool over this HOT cover...Whew, damn! Okay, we done? Good, moving on! This is clearly a set-up for a longer series to come, and it's a very good one. That doesn't meanSwimming in Shadows ends on a cliffhanger though...more of awhat's next? It's a good foundation upon which to build a series, and I can only hope that the girl from his past continues to help him see the path he needs to follow. I'm most definitely intrigued and...

A little sorry to reach the end of this anthology. It hit some MAJOR high notes, and was altogether an interesting, engaging, fun, occasionally funny, occasionally frustrating, often sexy and dirty tour of New Orleans, and Tulane Medical Centre. The stories flowed well and although there is no true interconnectivity between the stories beyond the appearance of the hospital in each, it was a collection that complemented each other and showed some superior writing skills.

If for no other reason that the excellent causes that Night Shiftsupports, I would recommend one-clicking. The overall awesomeness of these novellas is merely a bonus in helping others. After all, #LoveIsLove, and it doesn't matter who you love, or why, the important thing is being there for others when they need it -- and doing what you can to help. 5 overall stars.
