Sweet, emotional, fantastic!

This was the perfect follow up to Ruby and Sawyer’s story that began in More Than a Feeling. This is the last book in the series and while I am sad that it is over this was a wonderful way to see these characters off…

Ruby and Sawyer were getting ready for their wedding and reveling in being parents to soon-to-be-adopted Brookie. Emotions are high as the final preparations are underway. Whether trying to find that last-minute, perfect wedding gift or weathering the final wedding dress fittings, there are challenges even at the most happiest of times. Throw in unexpected news and some heartbreaking events and the story was full to the brim with emotion, tears and smiles…

I loved Ruby and Sawyer in the first outing and their love for Brookie knew no bounds. Their joy in parenthood is probably the one thing to rival the love they have for each other and it plucks at the heartstrings like nothing else. Once again, when life throws them one wrench after another, they rely on each other and their friends and family to get through. 

Sawyer is proud and solid as ever as the protector for his family but that doesn’t mean his emotions don’t run deep. The hints of vulnerability as fear creeps in reveal how much love he has, and what he wouldn’t do, for the women in his life. My heart kept being battered as it laughed and cried through what turned out to be my favorite instalment in the series.

This was a perfect conclusion to the gang at the Walker Mountain Ranch. A wedding, a baby and a bit of drama thrown in for good measure. 

This is a big family that loves and supports each other through the good and the bad. It's a classic love story for the ages. It's the one my mom would read, or the one that you pick up when you need a sure thing, feel good moment. This is what works. The execution was done well also. 

It's simple and easy and comfortable. Like a Sunday dinner with the family.

Where is the Walker Mountain Ranch and how can I get there as quickly as possible? I’ve only been to Colorado once, too many years ago to count, but any memories I have seem to have crawled into the pages of this series. Solid, dependable people who are real—loving, compassionate and as flawed as anyone as they struggle with all that life can throw at them. 

Sawyer Hawkins embodies all of those wonderful qualities even as he fights to overcome loss and guilt by planning to leave his family and home. Ruby James, on the other hand, has run to Walker Mountain to escape a past she can’t run far enough away from. Hurting but determined, they both are running. When they start looking at each other in a different light, love makes their decisions even harder…

As their stories unfolds, Ruby and Sawyer keep finding more and more to like about each other, even as their secrets are slowly strangling any hope of a relationship between them. Watching them come together in love and healing made my heart happy over and over again. Sigh… sniffle…

More Than a Feeling is a classic love story. 

Boy meets girl. Enter family shenanigans, lost dog, amazing scenery and more. This is the perfect book for a sweet romance lover who is smitten with love and needs a happily ever after to be content. 

Ruby James and Sawyer Hawkins both have secrets in their pasts. His include heartache and running from the past. Hers are the same—but different. When they meet at Walker Mountain Ranch, the chemistry is off the charts. But Sawyer recognizes the hurt in Ruby’s eyes. He feels the need to comfort her and take care of her. 

This was a simple and quick read. It ticked all the boxes of a classic, fun, HEA romance book for me. It’s more what my mother would read (yeah, I know) but it allowed me escape my everyday life for just a few. The words flowed fast from the pages. I enjoyed the story and may read more like it.

A sweet romance for a cold day….

Avery King is the heroine of this romance and she is sweet, funny and easy to like. She is also loyal, so when family expectations put her at odds with Bryce Walker, the sparks fly. 

Bryce is struggling to restore many things in his life, including his family home and his reputation. To say he is less than welcoming to Avery and her proposal is an understatement. Their goals are very different and neither one wants to back down; they both have very personal reasons and plans for the ranch. 

Eventually one of them is going to have to concede and that could mean they both stand to lose.

I really enjoyed this first novel of a new series. Ranches, even the hint to a cowboy, have my interest and Bryce, for all his growly ways, was very much a draw. The relationship that develops between the two is made more difficult, and interesting, with the great conflict they face right off the bat. 

On the surface they don’t seem that much alike but as the story builds what they have in common becomes clearer. They are each at a crossroads and watching the two struggle with that, and their feelings, was very entertaining. An unexpected crisis brings things to a head and one way or another, things are going to get sorted out. 

Lots of great characters, so I’m looking forward to more in the series!

No Better Man by Sara Richardson is the story of Bryce and Avery. 

Avery is from Chicago and loves the Cubs, more than anything. Bryce lives in Aspen and works on his ranch in the mountains. Dare we ask what brings them together? Avery’s father’s desire to own Bryce’s land… 

Going forward, we find two people fighting for love, futures, dealing with the past, learning to move on and to find acceptance of what is now. I loved Bryce and Avery. I liked their story. Together, I could picture them being a fun couple. 

I felt like the first part of the book was a bit slow for my taste, but the second half moved faster and was much better. The introduction of the secondary characters in the beginning was a bit odd and clinical but they played a pivotal role, so it was necessary to introduce them. I loved Elsie; who wouldn’t want someone like that in their life? 

Now, Aspen is on my short list of places to visit, especially in the Fall! Overall, No Better Man was a good read.
