Review - When I'm With You by Harper Sloan

Title: When I’m With You
Series: Hope Town #3
Author: Harper Sloan
Release Date: April 26, 2016

Nate:

It’s nearly impossible to be surrounded by love but not understand it. My parents, my sister, and just about everyone around us has no trouble accepting that love. To give your trust to someone else and believe they would die before hurting you. I’ve witnessed it—I’ve seen the power of it—but I’ve also seen the pain. Because for me, I’ve only loved someone I could never have, and my biggest fear is that by giving her my love, all I would do is ruin her. I should have tried harder, but I’m not sure I can because I only feel complete when I’m with her.

Emberlyn:

The only time I feel like I belong is when he’s near. His infectious smile warms me straight to my bones. Any insecurities I have vanish with just a wink from him. A sliver of his attention makes me feel invincible. But all it took was one drunken night of truths for me to lose everything I had begun to crave. Now, I’m not sure how to move on because I only feel complete when I’m with him.

He said I was too young. I said he was perfect. He said our families wouldn’t understand. I said we could weather any storm. He said he would ruin me. And he was right.

When I got When I’m With You on my kindle, I was so excited, there may have been flails involved! This series has been so addicting, and I can’t get enough!

Nate and Ember have had a rough road. With their age difference and families being so close, there were some reservations for having a relationship. So they got pushed apart by good intentions, which only lead to being without the person they were meant to be with…

This book gave me so many feels. Nate, oh, Nate. He is definitely an alpha. He had so much love to give, yet he pushed it away, thinking it was the best thing. When the time comes to say “fuck it” and be with Ember, he may have lost his chance. While reading I just want to reach into my book and push them together, and not let them be apart.

Ember has been hopelessly in love with Nate for such a long time. Though, after a certain night where not-so-great things happen, it has her pushing him away, too. When I realized what happened, I felt so much for Ember, as she was heartbroken. When Nate finally comes to his senses, I couldn’t blame her hesitation, even though I wanted them together so much.

Through all the heartbreak, forgiveness, and a new relationship, Ember and Nate’s love story wasn’t a walk in the park, but it was a journey that I enjoyed reading. They didn’t start off on the best footing, but they both grew as people and when it came time for their love to surface, they were ready.

Harper Sloan has managed to write yet another great alpha male, and I can’t wait to see who the next one will be. Her writing makes you feel so much for the characters, while losing yourself in the story. Hope Town is a wonderful place to escape to when you need a break from the real world.

When I’m With You is an electric combination of sassy and sweet, with just the right amount of sexy thrown in!

Nate Reid is the perfect man. He’s kind and hot. Sexy and funny. And even more, he’s determined… determined to make Emberlyn Locke his. Ember is full of sass and sweetness. She’s creative and thoughtful. And she’s in love. As with real life, love is so much about timing. With Nate and Ember, timing is everything.

First let me say, I’m hopping the first plane to Hotlanta if Dirty Dog is a real place, because holy smokes, it sounds epic! A place a single chick needs to take all her friends for a much needed, never to be forgotten night out. Then there’s the firecracker. It sounds perfect! I’ll take one, please. Or maybe two or three?

From the very beginning it was evident that Nate and Ember had chemistry in spades. The kind of love that you can only fight for so long. I found myself so immersed in the story that I failed to notice how quickly the pages flew by and then I was at the end. Like, wow! How did that happen?

I’m calling this the sweet book. I love Ember’s sassy, sweet personality. She’s the kind of chick I’d love to be friends with. She’s real and honest, and the love she has for Bam tugged on my heart strings! <3

Review - Bleeding Love by Harper Sloan

Title: Bleeding Love
Series: Hope Town #2
Author: Harper Sloan
Release Date: July 14, 2015

I've loved once. I gave everything that I had to that love. Blindly believing that nothing could ever take that feeling away from me. Away from us. And when my little world of happiness was ripped from my fingers, I felt a loss that still haunts me to this day.

Now I use that lingering grief as a shield to keep my heart from loving again. It's that fear that keeps me from letting anyone, except my daughter, get close enough to make it hurt. To make my heart bleed when I inevitably lose again.

Until the day I met Liam Beckett and everything I thought I had protected myself from was shoved back in my face.

He's on a mission to prove to me that a love worth having is a love worth fighting for.

*Bleeding Love is the second book in the Hope Town series. It will follow Liam and Megan. Each book in the series is a HEA and can be read as a standalone.*

Bleeding Love by Harper Sloan is a love story between Liam and Megan.

Let me begin by saying this story tugs on the heart strings every step of the way. Liam is the ultimate hot, hunky, alpha male. Megan is a strong, determined, woman who takes care of herself and her daughter, Molly. Liam's set his sights on Megan and she can't figure out why. The fireworks between the two of them are off the charts hot!

If you need a good laughing, crying, every emotion under the sun book, this is it! I found myself wanting to read faster to find out what was going to happen, yet, wanting to STOP so the story didn't end! Reading Liam and Megan's story, I was reminded that family is who you choose and how amazing is that?!
~ Review by Heather

I would like to make it known that Liam Beckett is definitely one of my top book boyfriends now! Liam knew want he wanted and he went after it. He knew Megan needed help getting back to being her happy self. She wasn’t really living and he made it his mission to make her ‘feel alive’ again. I really liked the fact that he wasn’t a player. I feel as though a lot of male characters are being written this way and it was refreshing to read a book about a guy who wasn’t, and who was ready to be in a relationship.

When Megan lost her husband, Jack, she didn’t just lose a husband; she lost her best friend. I can only imagine how hard that would be for someone. Letting Liam into her life was something she fought him on, but she couldn’t resist him for very long.

I felt so many emotions with this book. I laughed, cried, and didn’t want it to end. It was so cute how all the big, alpha Corps Security men would do anything for Molly; they were putty in her hands. Liam was so great with her and he made a great daddy!

Bleeding Love just sucks you in and you don’t want to put it down. Harper’s writing makes you feel so much for Megan and what she’s been through. It also makes you want to give Liam a high five for not giving up on her, for making her see that they could be happy together and for showing her what it’s like to feel alive.

I loved catching up with the Corps Security clan and seeing the whole gang together again. I fell in love with Liam’s character and can’t wait to read about another one of Harper’s alpha males in the next Hope Town book!

Blog Tour- Unexpected Fate by Harper Sloan

Title: Unexpected Fate
Series: Hope Town #1
Author: Harper Sloan
Release Date: February 17, 2015

Have you ever felt like you were living your life for a future that was predetermined? Like there was some bigger picture you just prayed you would someday see clearly? That picture has been crystal clear to me since I was old enough to recognize it for just what it was.

Or I should say recognize him for who he was.

I’ve loved Cohen Cage since I was a small child. He’s been my everything for the last twenty-two years. I’ve loved him through every girlfriend he’s ever brought home. Through his college years and then mine. I’ve loved him through two deployments. And ever since the day I told him how I felt, he’s acted like I’m a stranger.

My name is Danielle Reid, and it’s time for me to get my man.

Our future is an unexpected fate, and no matter what our parents, siblings, and friends say…it’s going to be worth every second of the fight to make it happen.

**This book is a standalone, HEA, with mature themes and sexual situations**

I have been dying to read Dani and Cohen's story since the moment I heard about it and it did not disappoint! I'm a sucker for stories where the hero and the heroine have grown up together and the whole "taboo" of dating your sibling's best friend/your best friend's sibling. It just makes everything hotter and sexier, and oh my gosh, was this book HOT, HOT, HOT!! I get the shivers just thinking about it!! I had very high hopes for this book and Ms. Sloan definitely fulfilled them!! I could not have been happier with Unexpected Fate. I positively LOVED it!!

If you want to read about an awesome heroine, then Dani Reid is definitely your girl! She's strong, determined, and a fighter all the way. She knows when to forgive, but she also doesn't take any crap. Dani is just a caring, funny, beautiful person and I loved her character!

Oh. My. Gosh. Cohen Cage is H-O-T HOT!! I'm serious ladies, this man is going to set you on fire and make you shiver, he is just GRAWR!! Cohen is beyond protective, possessive, and very much in charge. Once he decides that Dani is really his, nothing and nobody is going to keep her away from him. I absolutely loved Cohen for all his manly ways, but especially for his sweetness and I have no doubt that you will feel the same!

Unexpected Fate is full of humor, danger, mystery, heat, heartache, beauty, love, and fate. It will suck you in, make you laugh and cry, break your heart and make it race and pound. It's just a spectacular book; I would totally read it again, and I hope the other Corps Security kids get their own stories. I'm pretty sure, but I really hope Chance's book is next because I just loved him!!

Unexpected Fate is a standalone, it's told from Cohen and Dani's POV, and they do get their happily ever after ending!

I loved reading about Axel & Izzy and Greg & Melissa, so it was great to have the series continue with their children, Dani and Cohen.

Dani has loved Cohen since she was little, but they have always only been friends. She is Axel's little princess, so he has always been very protective of her. He doesn't let any boys come near her, except for Cohen because he trusts him.

Cohen knows Dani has feelings for him, yet Dani doesn't know what he feels for her since he has never acted on his feelings, though one night of taking care of a sick Dani might change his mind on what he is going to do about his feelings toward her.

There are some sexy scenes in this book! Cohen and Dani are HOT together! There also is some mystery going on with a secret stalker. Of course, Corps Security was on the case trying to find out who it was and keep everyone safe. I was wondering the whole time who it was! Dani and Cohen are great together and they are definitely each other's Unexpected Fate

I absolutely loved this book! It was great to catch up with the Corps Security clan and see what everyone is up to. I can't wait to read about more of the kids now that they are all grown up. This was another great book by Harper Sloan.

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
