Review, Excerpt and Giveaway ~ The Hidden Life by Erin Noelle

Title: The Hidden Life
Author: Erin Noelle
Release Date: April 29, 2016

***NOTE TO READER: This is a supplemental novella to the full-length novel, The Perfect Life, and should not be read as a standalone.***

I had a hidden life.

To everyone on the outside, I was Seth Andrews, an easy-going, fun-loving rowing coach, best friend to Colin Cassidy - the superstar quarterback of the New England Patriots, and infamous playboy.

To anyone looking in, my life was what others only dreamed of. I had the posh apartment, luxury car, and designer threads to prove it.

But what happens when the life you lead isn't the life your heart wants? What it needs?

How long can you live your public life when the one that really makes you happy is the hidden one?

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Keith Milano Memorial Fund to help raise awareness for mental health illnesses. For more information visit here: http://www.keithmilano.org

** DO NOT read this book if you haven’t read The Perfect Life**

This book isn’t a standalone novella, coming after The Perfect Life. It’s a companion story that tells another perspective. I don’t normally read these but this time, I needed it. I needed to know more about Seth and his feelings. He’s such a complex person. I was able to read this in one quick sitting, and it answered a few questions for me.

However, I think I’d really have been over the moon in love had it been a bit longer. There were so many questions I had and still have about Seth. He’s an amazing man and maybe I just want more. That happens also.

Erin’s writing is spot on. There isn’t anything you miss when reading her books. Unless you are like me and just want MORE!!!
~ Review by Heather

It had been nearly two months since I’d seen or talked to Colin. His calls and messages continued for a couple of weeks after the night I’d stormed out, but when it became evident I wasn’t going to return them, they tapered off until there were none at all. Every day, at least once, I’d pick up my phone, click on his name in my contacts, and stare at the picture of the two of us for a few minutes, longing to hear his voice, desperate for his touch. Then, before temptation got the best of me, I’d shut it off and toss it to the side, reminding myself I deserved more. I was worth more than being somebody’s dirty little secret, no matter how much I loved him.

But now, if something had happened to him… my throat began to close as I waited for her to answer.

“He’s okay, he’s okay. Don’t freak. It’s not life-threatening, but he thinks it’s a pretty serious injury to his shoulder and arm,” she quickly clarified, as my body slumped against the wall, sliding all the way down until I was sitting on the floor.

Air flow returned to my lungs as my heart began to beat again while she went on to explain he’d dislocated his shoulder in a game of pick-up basketball with some kids. As she spoke and the fear and concern gradually dissipated, anger and resentment flared inside of me and I cut her off, bitterness dripping from my tongue.

“Monroe, I don’t mean to be rude,” which I truly didn’t, at least not to her, “but I’m not sure why you’re calling me right now. I feel really terrible this has happened, because I honestly want the absolute best for him, but something like this doesn’t concern me anymore. I told you a while back at the game that I’m moving on. I can’t continue to fall back into something I know is going nowhere, and that’s exactly where Colin and I are headed as long as he wants to continue living a lie.”

She didn’t need to know that my “moving on” was more like a “stalling out.” Monroe wouldn’t judge me for my actions, but that didn’t mean I wanted her to know I was bed-hopping my way across New England.

“But… but he’s sorry,” she contended, “and you know he lov—”

“Did he ask me to come?” I interrupted her again. “Does he want me to be by his side to support him as his lover? As his boyfriend?”

Blowing out a frustrated sigh, she answered, “No, but—”

“But nothing, Roe,” I urged, sick of her defending him. “I’m tired of being his dirty secret. I deserve more, just like you do.”

She didn’t say anything right away, and I wanted to ask if anything had come of the whole Oliver thing, but didn’t think it was the right time.

“I understand. Sorry I woke you up,” she finally whispered.

“No need to apologize, baby girl,” I assured her softly, reminding myself there was no reason to be upset with her. “If you need me, call any time. You’re still my number one girl.”

“‘Kay, I will.”

“Bye, Roe. I love you.”

“I love you, too. Bye, Seth.”

I hung up the phone, but didn’t move. Closing my eyes, I tried to clear the onslaught of emotions warring inside of me, unsure if I was doing the right thing by not going to see him. I knew I was being a dick, but dammit, I was still pissed. After agreeing to give him another chance to make things work with the two of us, we had spent a couple of amazing weeks together. I really thought we were back on track… then all to have it ripped right out from under me. How could he be so thoughtless? So self-centered?

Clinging to my anger ensured that I didn’t fall back into his arms. After over seven years, it was time I stood up for what I wanted. Things that were important to me. But I knew if I saw him, there was a good chance he’d draw me back in. My brain was no match for the needs and desires of my heart and body. Not yet at least. I needed as much time as possible to build up my defenses to resist him. Like maybe forever.

Unfortunately, forever was right around the corner.

Review - The Perfect Life by Erin Noelle

Title: The Perfect Life
Author: Erin Noelle
Release Date: February 18, 2016

I had the perfect life.

The perfect husband. Colin Cassidy—the incredibly talented, extremely gorgeous, and unbelievably humble star NFL quarterback.

The perfect marriage. Our bond was unbreakable. His support unwavering.

The perfect career. As the recently-appointed executive director for the Boston chapter of Mending Hearts, a child abuse prevention and treatment program, my daily reward was helping to keep vulnerable, innocent children from being preyed upon and destroyed. It’s all I’d wanted to do since I was a teenager.

Perfect city. Perfect car. Perfect house with the perfect view.

From the outside looking in, it was impossible to find a single flaw in my life. I had it all. Everything I'd ever wanted.

But that kind of perfection came at a price. Demanded the ultimate sacrifice.

What happened when I discovered what I'd been missing all along? When I began to question if the lies were worth protecting?

What if suddenly the last thing I wanted was to be perfect?

Life isn’t perfect no matter what the outside looks like. We all hide behind the façade that we want others to see. That is absolutely true for Monroe and Colin Cassidy. Living in the spotlight as a New England Patriots football player and a fundraiser for a children's charity means showing the world their best side at all times.

I fell in love with Monroe and Colin’s story almost immediately. The love flows from the pages so easily. I laughed and cried and shouted to my friends, “you MUST read this book now!” The underlying premises that run through the book are not easy for some readers. But if you connect to it, like I did from the beginning, you’ll read without stopping. Laundry, food, everything else ignored!

Monroe has a good life with Colin. He loves her with all he has. But something is missing. She loves him so deeply but she can’t ignore feelings that are starting to surface in her. Their lives will ultimately be changed based upon the way she acts or reacts to those feelings.

“Why risk it all for something that could or couldn’t amount to something worthwhile and significant? Why take that chance?”

This is a question that I’ve asked myself so often. The answer for me is LOVE. I would take that chance, make the change and risk it all for love. To know what it’s like to have someone love me from the depths of their soul. To be my person. This book is so much about love, finding yourself and what you’ll accept in life. It pierced the inner walls of my battered and bruised heart in the best way! Love is what makes the world go round and one day it will find me. Until then (and after), I’ll hold tight these amazing stories that the authors share with us to keep us believing… in LOVE!
~ Review by Heather

Monroe Cassidy had what seemingly was the perfect life. Married to Colin "Clutch" Cassidy, a pro football player of the Patriots, they both are influential members of society. Whether it was Monroe's stance on child abuse or Clint's religious and moral stand point, they had to be seasoned pro's when it came to the limelight. After three years of marriage, they mastered the art of only allowing the media to catch glimpses of their 'reality'. That is, until thing get complicated when Monroe finds something she didn't realize she was missing.

I had no clue what I was getting into when I picked up The Perfect Life. Not only was this book beautifully written, Erin Noelle masterfully kept me on my toes with wondering what could happen next. It was chock-full of romance, sexual tension and an abundance of good humor. At one point in reading this book, I may have snorted from laughing so hard. The Perfect Life was created to have dark moments among the light. Right when you felt like there was too much emotion taking you on a ride you weren't ready for, Erin instantly threw you some of Monroe's spunky sass that could turn any gloomy situation into something positive.

I have to be vague to keep the integrity of the story line intact. Believe me when I say I wish I could tell you everything. This book is worth gushing about. From the plot twists to the Grease references, it really is an outstanding read. Just do yourself a favor and pick up The Perfect Life, you won't regret it.

Review - Transparent by Erin Noelle

Title: Transparent
Series: Luminous #2
Author: Erin Noelle
Release Date: October 15, 2015

Her elusive past didn’t worry me,

Her heartbreaking scars never made me cringe,

And her haunting demons only made me a stronger man.

But the day Blake Martin was stolen from me,

I was scared to death.

Prepared to do anything necessary to get her back,

Little did I know it just might cost me my life.

My name is Madden Decker, and this is my story.

Who knew anything involving the mafia could be so dang sexy? This book hits all the sexy pressure points. A captivating rich man trying to get his girlfriend back from a gorgeous mafia man? Uh yes, where do I sign up for that treatment?

They say the coals are the hottest part of a fire and good lord, did this book smoulder! Erin Noelle has a way of making things that aren't usually a turn on sound like they're dripping with sex appeal. Her writing is hypnotic and takes you on a journey you aren't willing to end. The pure enjoyment of the author's words had me wanting to slow down, but the suspense had me on the edge of my seat willing me to read faster. It was the best kind of carnival ride.
~ Review by Kelly

My goodness, what a freaking ride was my heart put through in this continuation of Blake and Madden's story! To be honest, I wasn't sure how it was going to end; I felt like I literally held my breathe through out the entire book.

This book was just, ARGHH! Amazing! And it played with my emotions like a violin plays music. Hold on tight to your heart because, once you're done, it will feel like it's been put through a blender.

Once again, freaking amazing job, Erin Noelle! I cannot wait for what else you have in store for us!

Review and Excerpt - Flame by Erin Noelle

Title: Flame
Series: Fire on The Mountain #2
Author: Erin Noelle
Release Date: August 6, 2015

I’m soaring.

After years of hard work and determination, I am exactly where I want to be in life. As the top ranked Freestyle Motocross rider in the world, I have more money than I could ever dream of spending and gorgeous women throwing themselves at me in every city I land. I have everything I could ever want.

Everything except her.

While in Breckenridge for my best friend’s wedding, I was introduced to Dakota Shavell, a friend of the bride-to-be, and from the moment our blue gazes met, sparks flew.
What I initially intended to be a single steamy night together turned into a scorching two week road trip to New Orleans with a sassy-mouthed blonde. Being between her legs gave me a bigger adrenaline rush than I’d ever gotten from flying through the air while straddling a bike.

It was supposed to just be fun, a good time. I planned to walk away unchanged.

But it was more. Feelings I never intended to have got involved, and I’ll never be the same.

Yet, I still walked away.

Except now I’m injured and my outlook has changed. Priorities have become clear.

And I’m going back to reclaim her…to show her that together we can make the fire between us burst into flames.

***Though Flame is the second book in the Fire on the Mountain Series, it is an interconnected stand alone novel***

There is currently a wild fire occupying my lady bits. It's been there since I finished this book and I don't see it going away any time soon.

This book wasn't just flame worthy, it was HOT. The female lead, Dakota, was confident and extremely sexy. The male lead, Levi, was an alpha that could tame me any day. Seriously, ANY DAY. Those two had a chemistry in and out of the sheets that could not be beat.

The author not only created a steamy book, she created a book that will stick with you for a while...if the burning in between my thighs says anything about it. Honestly, if I could rate this book 10 stars, I would!

Swiping the hotel key card across the magnetic reader, the green dot on the lock lights up, and I swing open the door to get my first look at home for the next five days. The suite at the trendy W Hotel in the French Quarter appears to be pretty fucking nice…that is, what I can see of it.

The couch in the corner is covered in a shitload of shopping bags, assorted colors and sizes, from what looks like every store in a fifty-mile radius. The small dining table is hidden by a leftover room service tray and an empty bottle of wine; the unused glasses were apparently not necessary. And strewn across the rumpled bed covers are Dakota’s purse, duffel bag, and phone, as well as several magazines. It appears that my little Sunshine has made herself quite comfortable while I was out at the track, which makes me unexpectedly happy. I like seeing all her shit everywhere. I like that she is who she is with me. Unapologetically.

I continue to move forward into the suite before I let that thought scare the shit out of me.

As I enter the bedroom portion of the suite, the first thing I hear is the hum of running water in the bathroom, and my first thought is, Hell yeah, let’s conserve water! But before I can barrel in there and rip my clothes off, Dakota begins the worst rendition of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” I’ve ever heard in my life.

Choking back my laughter, I stand outside the door for several minutes and listen to her butcher one of the best driving songs ever. It’s bad. So terribly bad. Part of me is tempted to record it. You never know when good material like that can be handy, but I can’t pull myself away.

With tears threatening to spill onto my cheeks, I hold my gut and lean on the doorframe for balance, eavesdropping for the entire performance, beginning to end. Finally, after she belts out the final terribly-off-key lyric, I’m able to calm down a little. Though, I’m now well aware she’ll be the first thing I think of anytime I hear that song.

The list is growing. The color yellow. Anything Incredible Hulk. Massages. Body shots. Nipple rings. Ghost-hunting. Hot air balloons. Dragons. The roofs of buses. And now “Free Fallin’”. She’s ruining me a little more each day.

Fucking hell. I’m starting to sound like Gunner’s pussy-whipped ass.

The water abruptly turns off and I jump backward at least a foot, thankful she didn’t see my guilty-as-fuck reaction. Quickly scooting away from the door, I fling open my suitcase and pretend to be unpacking my stuff as she emerges from the steamy bathroom.

“Oh hey, Hulk. I didn’t hear you come in.” Her mouth curls up in an impish grin when she sees me, probably assuming I’ve been out here thinking about her naked in the shower. “Why didn’t you come in and join me?”

I give her my best innocent boy look, deciding to wait a while before I burst her bubble about what I heard. “I just assumed it was locked. Sorry. So used to being on the bus.”

“And since when have you cared about locks on the bus?” she quips. “You usually take what you want, when you want it. Isn’t that what you told me once?”

Standing next to the king-size bed, she loosens her grip on the white towel draped around her sexy-as-sin body, and as the terrycloth falls to the floor, it whooshes away any thoughts with it that don’t involve me buried to the hilt inside her. Maybe I’ll add white towels to the list too.

My brazen gaze roams the length of her body, absorbing every delicious fucking inch of what she’s offering. She is fucking exquisite. Water droplets glisten on her smooth, freshly washed skin, begging me to lick them off, calling out to me like I’m a man dying from dehydration. God, I’m fucked.

#1 SPARK

Spark will be sure to ignite a fire in you. Whether it be the emotional turmoil or the fire in between your legs - there will be an inferno!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, from the blurb, but I knew it was going to be unconventional. What I didn't know was how much this book was going to wreak havoc on my emotions. It's safe to say I fell in love - with the characters, with their story and with their heartbreak. I have never read an author that had me crying from laughter and from sadness...at the same time. My poor tissues never got a break.

This book deserves five stars and more!
