Kathleen Kelly was born in Penrith, NSW, Australia. When she was four her family moved to Brisbane, QLD, Australia. Although born in NSW she considers herself a QUEENSLANDER!!

She married her childhood sweetheart and they live in Brisbane with their two furry kids. A British Short Hair called Grace and a Burmese called Jack.

I feel like this book was designed to maximize impact on my feels. From the adorable cover, to the heartwarming premise, everything about Soldier’s Heart screamed my name. I was not disappointed. This book tackles some pretty heavy subject matter—stirring up tears and this whole whirlwind of emotions that didn’t die down until the (lovely and satisfying) epilogue. That said, it didn’t feel like a heavy book. The heavy pieces were balanced out with touches of light humor and…puppies. That’s right—if you are a dog lover? This book is for you.

This was my first book by Megan Green, and the second in a series. I think it worked well as a standalone, though I definitely feel like reading the first book would have enhanced the reading experience, especially for the first 10% of the book. That said, I still connected strongly to Isaiah and Emma. I loved them—particularly Emma with her matter-of-fact acceptance of the cards that life has dealt her, and her quirky, fun personality. She’s a strong heroine, incredibly likeable, and I found it impossible not to root for her.

Isaiah is a bit more damaged—he’s carrying more baggage than he knows what to do with and it’s thrown his life way off track. Circumstance brings him to Emma’s dog training business and there he finds peace and happiness, and makes the first steps towards healing. I loved Isaiah’s story, the journey that he took, and all the bumps along the way. While the love story was sweet and swoony, Isaiah’s personal story resonated with me even more. His journey was inspiring and heartwarming, and he’s a character who will stick with me for a long time.

I really enjoyed this entire book. I laughed a little. I cried…kind of a lot. There were some unexpected twists and turns, lots of sweet and a dash of sizzle—and heaps of adorable puppies that made what could have been a dark, heavy story feel light and hopeful.

This was a sexy-panties are optional-story, which had me clenching my thighs and wishing it was me, not Violet, receiving the pleasure!! Violet's innocence showed right through her and I'd like to think that's why Adam becomes so intrigued with her. 

As Adam showed Violet what she'd been missing out, I saw the Domineering Alpha in him and, to be honest, at times I wanted to smack him. Poor Violet didn't know what she was exactly getting into when she said yes to Adam...but, boy, she was about to find out. 

Adam was used to being right, obeyed and getting what he wanted, and I'd like to believe that's why he chose Violet. Adam shows Violet how good they are together, yet we also see a sarcastic side to Adam that once again had me wanting to reach out and smack some kindness and sense into him. I frequently hated how he treated and spoke to Violet, and that's why I felt Violet lost a bit of her self-esteem there. I know she wanted to please him, but I wish she would have fought a little more. Though, one of the many things that Violet did experience was discovering her sexuality, which Adam was a pro at showing her.

Now, be warned! Solid Stone ends on a cliffy so we have to wait for book two to see if there will be a HEA for Adam and Violet. Nonetheless, it was a HOT read so get ready, and be prepared…you might need a cold shower (or two) and some extra panties after this one.

This was my second Jody Holford book and about two-thirds of the way through I realized something—Ms. Holford has a habit of drawing you into the story in such a way that you don't even realize that you're falling in love… 

I actually found myself a little frustrated with the pacing of this story sometimes—but without even realizing it, everything eventually just clicked and, when it did, it completely took my breath away. It's supposed to be slow moving. It HAS to be slow moving, or the story doesn't make any sense. And because it's slow moving, once things start coming together, it's so much sweeter and more meaningful, and normal, everyday things within the storyline become breathtaking.

Another thing I realized is that when you pick up a Jody Holford book, you aren’t just getting a romance. I mean, there is a romance—and it’s sweet and breathtaking, and Lord, you guys, I loved the crap out of Noah—but her stories are so much bigger than all the swoons she delivers. Damaged was no exception. There’s a much deeper story here—about surviving and healing and forgiving, and living the fullest life you were meant to live. 

It doesn’t shy away from some pretty sensitive topics—my heart broke for Maddi and Nat, and even sometimes for Noah as he tried so hard to protect these women he loved, to absorb much of their pain. It’s heavy—but not too heavy. There are plenty of lighthearted moments; the banter between Noah and Maddi, for example, was fun, flirty, and occasionally had me giggling out loud. Noah is the truest, most steadfast hero imaginable, and Maddi is so strong and brave in ways she doesn’t even understand or recognize. Their story isn’t necessarily an easy one, but it resonated and left a mark on my heart. 

In the end, Damaged was heartbreaking, heartwarming, nerve wracking, and emotional. It was also redemptive and rewarding in such a way that while my heart may be a bit bruised from the journey, it’s so happy to have been along for the ride.

I’ve only been to Colorado once, too many years ago to count, but any memories I have seem to have crawled into the pages of this series. Solid, dependable people who are real—loving, compassionate and as flawed as anyone as they struggle with all that life can throw at them. 

Sawyer Hawkins embodies all of those wonderful qualities even as he fights to overcome loss and guilt by planning to leave his family and home. Ruby James, on the other hand, has run to Walker Mountain to escape a past she can’t run far enough away from. Hurting but determined, they both are running. When they start looking at each other in a different light, love makes their decisions even harder…

As their stories unfolds, Ruby and Sawyer keep finding more and more to like about each other, even as their secrets are slowly strangling any hope of a relationship between them. More Than a Feeling is a classic love story. 

Boy meets girl. Enter family shenanigans, lost dog, amazing scenery and more. This is the perfect book for a sweet romance lover who is smitten with love and needs a happily ever after to be content. 

Ruby James and Sawyer Hawkins both have secrets in their pasts. His include heartache and running from the past. Hers are the same—but different. When they meet at Walker Mountain Ranch, the chemistry is off the charts. But Sawyer recognizes the hurt in Ruby’s eyes. He feels the need to comfort her and take care of her. 

This was a simple and quick read. It ticked all the boxes of a classic, fun, HEA romance book for me. It’s more what my mother would read (yeah, I know) but it allowed me escape my everyday life for just a few. The words flowed fast from the pages. I enjoyed the story and may read more like it.

Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders. 

Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction.
