4-4.5 Stars
I'll start off by saying how much I love Kristen Proby. Her With Me In Seattle series has been on my favorites list for the better part of a year and she's one of those authors that I will read no matter what she writes. That being said, I had been in the mood for a good, steamy cowboy romance, and this first installment in the Love Under The Big Sky series delivered. Over and over and over.
Seth is a troubled 12-year old boy, dropped off and basically abandoned by his mom, at the Lazy K Ranch. She no longer has the want or care to raise him. His grandparents and Uncle Josh don't hesitate giving him a loving home and place to feel safe. Cara Donavan is a teacher hired as a tutor for the summer to help Seth get his grades up. Josh, Seth's uncle, runs the ranch where Cara is set to tutor. They knew each other and were friendly in high school but have only seen one another in passing over the years since they still live in the same town. There are several close encounters between Cara and Josh while she is tutoring that bring feelings to the surface that neither knew were hidden.
"Jesus, we breed hot men in Montana."
Cara has always considered herself average. Average looks, slightly bigger than average build. When Alpha-Cowboy Josh takes a sudden interest in her, she doesn't believe his intentions are sincere considering he can have his pick of any woman he wants. And rumor has it, he has picked quite a few. Those insecurities aside, Josh makes Cara feel things she's never felt before and sparks fly when they take their rekindled friendship from flirty banter to a hot, steamy, sexy romance.
"She's panting, her cheeks are flushed, and her eyes are bright green. So that's what color they are when she's turned on."
When Cara's house is destroyed in a storm, Josh insists that she stay with him until it's fixed. As their relationship grows, a few misunderstandings shake their foundation almost past the point of repair.
Seth broke my heart. This poor young boy, so angry and confused, wanted to be left alone. Cara wouldn't allow it, and pushed him. She stood for what she believed in when it came to helping him deal with his emotional issues left over after being abandoned. He found more than a tutor in Cara, he found someone who he could confide in. And he learns to trust.
Josh was everything I wanted in a cowboy. Commanding, sexy, take-charge. He stirred up butterflies with his sexy, whispered naughty thoughts and scorching hot body. He never waivered from his passion for Cara. Cara was extremely relatable and likable. She was all the things I enjoy about a heroine; strong and witty with a few small insecurities that made her seem so normal. I loved them as a couple. They fit, they make sense, and they encourage each other. Oh, and they have smokin' hot sex. Josh and Cara's connection was sparking from the start and built in intensity. I think my kindle overheated a few times...or maybe it was just me ;)
Although I am not too happy about waiting until August for the next book in this series, I know it will be so worth the wait.

Kristen spends her days with her muse in the Pacific Northwest. She enjoys coffee, chocolate and sunshine. And naps.
Attitude makes a character sexy to me. I love a good bout of confidence in someone.
