My Love At Last by Jaclyn Marulanda is a quick romantic read. If you like stories of childhood friends getting a second chance at love then this book is for you.

This book was simply a straightforward book about two childhood friends, Danielle and TJ. Danni and TJ were very close growing up but once they reach high school, they drifted apart. TJ secretly loved Danielle when they were growing up but never had the guts to profess his love to her. Danni, the popular girl dated the high school jock whereas TJ was labelled as the geek.

After a couple of years passed, TJ, the once geeky nerd grows up to be a successful wealthy and handsome business owner. When TJ visits his hometown, he runs into Danni.

Sparks and instant attractions erupts. From then on, TJ and Danni begin a whirlwind romance. TJ finally gets the girl of his dreams and the HEA.

MY THOUGHTS:

It's definitely a quick read and great for all those romantics who like a sweet HEA. The plot was straightforward and very predictable. Personally, I love to read books about childhood best friends becoming lovers but this book didn't live up to my expectation. I just couldn't connect to the characters as much as I wanted. The delivery of dialogue was meh. (not bad but not great). At times I felt like Danni was still in high school in the way she communicated with TJ. A heartwarming story but it didn't leave me yearning for more of TJ and Danni so I would rate this book a 3 at best.

Jaclyn is a 29 year old stay at home mother to four wonderful children who keep her plenty busy. Being a mom to two year old twins, a four year old and a soon to be two year old keeps her on her toes. She started her journey to self publishing romance novels after being inspired by other great romance authors and have enjoyed every minute of it. When she is not writing or running around after children she likes to spend her time reading a good book and enjoying the quiet.

  1. Thank you for the synopsis and review. I would enjoy reading this book because it is a short read and as such I don't expect a in depth story.
