Review - Even the Score by Kate Meader

Title: Even the Score
Series: Tall, Dark, and Texan #1
Author: Kate Meader
Release Date: July 21, 2015

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

He'll make her an offer she can't refuse...

Actress Tess McKenzie is performing in the Tenth Circle of Showbiz Hell-dinner theater. All she really wants is to start a theater of her own. Then Tess receives an offer she can't refuse. She'll get her funding...if she pretends to be the fiancée to her nemesis, Texan property tycoon Hunter Dade. If she's going to pull this off, she'll need all the luck she can get. Break a leg, indeed.

On the verge of a big business deal, Hunter needs to hire a fiancée. He hasn't quite forgiven Tess for ruining his wedding, but when their chemistry goes from combative to straight-up lust, the "no sex" clause in their mutually beneficial arrangement is tested. Which is a serious problem, because if Tess isn't careful, she'll go from breaking a leg to breaking her heart...

Never have the words ‘opposites attract’ worked more than in this story!

Tess and Hunter intensely disliked each other and with Tess ending his wedding before it even began, it led to lots of fighting. However, there was always an underlying attraction and connection between them.

“He’d never had as much fun as when he was fighting with Tess. Which was incredibly arousing and strangely disturbing.”

Tess is an actress who is stuck in the awful world of dinner theater. One night, Hunter comes to see her show with friends, unknowing she is in it. The sparks start flying again and Hunter ends up hiring her to play his fake fiancée.

“Taking her would be a pleasure. Making her beg as he fucked her tight, curvy body would be the ultimate prize.”

This story is hot, funny, and oh, so sweet. Hunter is a swoon-worthy white knight with a knack for dirty talk. Tess is feisty, sassy, and independent.

“Ever the tease, he rubbed his cock against her swollen folds and made introductions. Hunter’s cock, meet Tess’s pussy. Thrilled to make your acquaintance, pussy. Thrilled to make your acquaintance.”

While at times this story was a bit predictable, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of it. I really liked that it was in both Hunter and Tess’ point-of-view, but would have preferred an indication that it was switching POVs in the middle of a chapter.

Overall, this story was enjoyable and I look forward to reading Brody and Miss Strickland’s story.
