Slade-5

Title: Slade
Series: Walk of Shame #1
Author: Victoria Ashley
Release Date: June 3, 2014

My name is Slade Merrick and I’m a f*cking sex addict . . .

I’ve been told it’s a problem. But I see it as a passion; something that I’m good at. And who the f*ck stops something that they’re good at?

They want me to seek help; get my c*ck in check. Don't judge my lifestyle. You’re no better than me. Just admit it, you like to f*ck too. Sex is what I do best; my own personal high, so I embrace it instead of being ashamed.

When I'm not f*cking, I'm slinging drinks at Walk Of Shame or stripping my way into your bed; another thing I'm good at. Every woman’s darkest fantasy brought to life.

So, am I stopping? F*ck no. Sex is beautiful, raw and erotic and I get off knowing I can have it with anyone I want . . . with the exception of her.

Aspen.

She walks into the club swaying those hips, instantly drawing my c*ck to attention. She’s pure perfection. That is, until she opens that mouth, drawing me in and for the first time in forever I want something more than sex. I want her and she hates it.

Things get dirty. Dirty is what I like; it’s how I live. But . . . she’s playing a game she can never win.

Let me first off say, when I first read these lines of the blurb I was sold:

Pardon my language but Holy Shit.. SLADE was one HOT **fans oneself** READ!!!! This was my first book by Victoria Ashley and OMG...this book must be read with a warning. SLADE  was so fucking sexy, hot, and steamy that it will leave you combusting with Slade’s dirty mouth. What’s not to love about a book when you have a cocky, filthy, sexy manwhore who is a stripper/bartender at the Walk of Shame club. Oh yeah...did I mention he is a sex addict too. So you can probably understand why Ms. Ashley’s readers were left hot and bothered. This book was basically oozing and dripping with sexiness and steam.

Right off the first chapter, Ms. Ashley started with a bang and I mean that in a good way. Slade Merrick is one sexy beast, dripping with arrogance.  If you want pleasure and all your sexual desires to be fulfilled then Slade Merrick is your go to man.  Let’s just say, Slade has no problems in making a woman come and screaming with pleasure. If there was a customer satisfaction survey at the Walk of Shame, I probably think Slade will get a big fat check mark of excellent.  Slade was living a life filled with sex, alcohol, and of course an endless line of ladies waiting their turn to ride on the Slade train.  Well that all came to an abrupt halt when a blonde beauty gave him a run for his money.

One look from Slade, Aspen knew she was in trouble. Raw primal sexual chemistry was emitting off between these two. Given the fact the Slade was a manwhore, Aspen knew she had to keep her distance from Slade while she’s in town visiting. Well keeping a distance presented to be a problem for Aspen when she discovered that her childhood friend, Cale is roommates with Slade. For one week,  Aspen and Slade in one house together...can we say trouble? So how long can Aspen deny her sexual desires of Slade?

Aspen tried so hard to keep her legs closed but with lust and desire brewing for Slade, she caved in. Well I don’t blame her at all when you have Slade’s dirty mouth whispering naughty and filthy things that will have any woman dropping their panties.  There is a reason why Slade is well known among the ladies, he gives you a fucking that you can’t forget. For Aspen, she got more than she bargained for. She was drunk and captivated by this manwhore, who somehow managed made her to FEEL and awakened her sexual desires that has been dormant for quite sometime. And as for Slade, his one rule fucking a girl only once was thrown out the window when he got a taste for Aspen and wanted seconds. When these two are together, their sexual chemistry can only be described ascombustible. This whirlwind affair brewing between Slade and Aspen shocked both of them because it was so unexpected especially they both have secrets that have yet to be revealed. When secrets begins to unraveled, will this so called be manwhore finally break all his rules about one night stands and claim Aspen to be the only woman in his life?

Overall, I enjoyed reading Slade. It was hot and quick steamy novella that will have you devouring this book in a sitting. I loved the raw sexual chemistry that was oozing from Slade. If you are looking for steam and hot sex, Ms. Ashley does not fail in giving her readers a taste of why Slade Merrick is desired among the ladies at the Walk of Shame.  As much as I enjoyed this quick read, I wished Ms. Ashley provided more character background on Aspen. I thought the revelation of her secret and past was a bit rushed for my taste.  But other than that, I thought Slade was an entertaining hot read that not only introduced you to Slade but also two hot delectable men, Cale and Hemy of the Walk of Shame club. I can’t wait for what Ms. Ashley has in store for Hemy in book 2. All I can say is if SLADE was this hot then I can only imagine Hemy’s story to be a blazing inferno of sexiness.

4 DIRTY STARS

If that blurb alone doesn't have you One-Clicking you're crazy! First off, I know this book won't be for everyone. It's not the hearts and flowers type of cookie cutter romance. It's dirty and filthy and raw. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Victoria Ashley may have written one of the cockiest mother fucker's I've had the pleasure of reading. Slade is a stripper/bartender/sex addict. Oh boy, isn't that just the icing on this sexy cake? He's brash, brazen and down right rude at parts. Alpha male exuding confidence to the max.

Aspen is a girl that just needs to get away from her life for a while. She's sweet and sexy and the last damn thing she was expecting was Slade. Not many women can resist him but Aspen tries her damndest to stay out of his way and more importantly his bed. But Slade wouldn't be Slade if her didn't get her to cave. And when she does, watch the sparks fly.

While I did enjoy this story I also wished it was a tad longer. Sometimes with a novella, I'm just not able to connect to the characters as much as with a full length novel. With that being said, I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this series.

When I read, I want to escape. I want a fantasy. I want to get to know the people I'm reading about and understand why they choose the person they do. Why they are the way they are. It's about feeling connected and learning new things. It's about recognizing something of yourself in them. And, let’s be honest here - since we are reading dirty, smutty books - it’s about sex. Hot, steamy, caught-in-the-rain, I-need-a-cold-shower sex. Where better to read about sex than a book about a sex addict and male stripper? Nowhere better, is the answer to that question. Because, HOT DAMN, Slade is one sexy-as-hell book....

Slade Merrick lives his life based a series of rules. No drinking and driving. Sex with whomever he wants, whenever he wants it - but only ever for one night. It's about feeling the rush, feeling the passion, feeling the high... It's about just feeling something, anything at all. Aspen Raines is only in town for a few days. She needs some time to reflect on her life and how she’s going to proceed. When she meets the cocky stripper at the Walk of Shame, she’s horrified at how her body reacts to him. Slade is hot as hell and he knows it, but he’s an asshole. He wants Aspen more than he's wanted anyone for a long time. She wants him in return but she's determined to ignore her desire - he and his rules have a reputation. Plus, you know, he’s an asshole. She doesn’t want to want him but she can’t seem to get her mind and body to agree on that. Slade and Aspen can’t fight each other and their attraction forever though, and their connection could change both of them...

I was really, really looking forward to reading this book. The teasers were amazing. The concept interesting - a sex addicted male stripper certainly had me intrigued...and drooling. The drooling didn’t stop once I started reading. I think I might need to, at the very least, polish the screen on my Kindle. Dang.... Slade (the book) had some serious sex and sex talk. I mean, I was practically fanning myself by the end of chapter one. I’m totally fine with that because DIRTY, SMUTTY BOOKS, people. But it was more than that. One of the most enjoyable parts of Slade was seeing the titular character and Aspen reveal themselves. Neither of them are what they seem at first – and honestly, at first Slade seems like a grade-A prick. I was concerned that he would stay that way or make a sudden about-face and I’d be left wondering why. Not the case. Victoria Ashley added just enough depth to the character to make me want to find out more, to interest me in his backstory and hope – really, truly hope – that he wasn’t as irredeemable as he seemed. Aspen was slightly different. I read this book twice and it wasn’t until I was finished the second time that I felt I fully understood her action toward and reaction to Slade. The first time I think I was too distracted by Slade’s larger-than-life personality. And also by the sex (my mind is kind of in the gutter right now...um, actually, always). You have to almost read between the lines to pick up what Aspen is saying with her hatred of Slade and why, when the time comes, she’s not able to let go of her past as easily as he is. That’s a good thing though. Their relationship wasn’t rushed into a traditional happily ever after. There’s definite closure but they both have more growing up and letting go to do. And we will hopefully get to see that as the series progress. Which brings me to another reason to enjoy this book – the secondary characters. Cale, Hemy (both to get their own stories) and Sarah all add to the story and help lighten the mood a little. Hemy, in particular, was a favourite of mine. And there’s one scene where he and Slade....no, never mind. I’m not telling. Go read the book and see for yourself why a cold shower might be needed afterward.

This is the first novella in the Walk of Shame series but can read as a standalone, no cliffhanger.

Holy Hotness!!! I devoured this book in one sitting; less than 2 hours. I couldn’t put it down! I am a sucker for strong, tattooed alpha men who are hurting and trying to numb the pain until a certain woman comes along. Slade was exactly that; a stripper running from his past and not allowing himself to feel. That is until Aspen walks into the Walk of Shame, the bar where he works.  He was hooked from the first time he saw her. Aspen, on the other hand, told herself that she didn’t want or need Slade. She had her own problems to deal with, which was why she was in town visiting her friend and Slade’s roommate, Cale, to begin with.

If you are looking for a steamy read with a fantastic story line, look no further. Stop what you are doing and read this book. Just make sure you don’t have any plans because you are not going to put it down until you finish it!

Before you read this book make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy because SLADE and the boys are going to make your panties burst in to flames. This book was HOT from the very first page and did not let up until the end.  If you like erotic....this is your book!  Victoria Ashley can write one hell of a sex scene. Pages and pages of eroticism and not one scene the same. It had a "Magic Mike" kind of feel to it. I could so picture Channing Tatum as Slade.

I give this book 4 1/2 panty melting stars. I wanted more from the characters besides sex. I don't feel like I made a connection with them until the end. By the time the story line took off it was over and I felt like it was rushed.

I will however say that I would LOVE to take a trip to Walk of Shame and watch these boys in action.

I guarantee I will be first in line for the next book! Congratulations to Victoria Ashley on a sizzling start to what I'm sure will be an incredibly EROTIC series.

4.5 SEXY SLADE STARS

Slade is a sex addict, when he is stressed, he uses sex to numb the pain he feels. He's a stripper who sleeps with women and his rule is to not sleep with the same person more than once. He has the moves with how he dances that got me too excited and I was literally blushing while reading his naughty stripper dances he did. Loved it when he dances or strip for the horny ladies who comes to see him at WALK OF SHAME, where he works. The way he moved was so hot that I had it all pictured in my head and I just couldn't get enough of his naughtiness (fanning myself).

Aspen was the only girl that really got to Slade. The sexual tension they both felt for each other was just crazy. Everytime Slade would seduce Aspen, she would totally become lost in space and without realizing that she would give in and pull away at the same time, just made me crazy. She wants him, but she knows that he is very bad for her. His reputation just screams "WARNING BAD BOY".

Slade makes it his mission to get Aspen. She's the only girl who ever denied him with what he wants. The more she pulls away from him, the more he wants her. She hates him, but he gets horny hearing or seeing her mad and draws him in even more.

This is one of the hottest books I have ever read and I totally loved it. There wasn't a time when I turned a page that I wasn't hot and bothered. Looking forward to more of Victoria Ashley's Walk Of Shame Series.

Victoria Ashley grew up in Rockford, IL and has had a passion for reading for as long as she can remember. After finding a reading app where it allowed readers to upload their own stories, she gave it a shot and writing became her passion. She lives for a good romance book with tattooed bad boys that are just highly misunderstood and is not afraid to be caught crying during a good read. When she’s not reading or writing about bad boys, you can find her watching her favorites shows such as Sons Of Anarchy, Dexter and True Blood. She is the author of Wake Up Call and This Regret and is currently working on more releases for 2014.
