Review - Fight to the Finish by Jeanette Murray

Title: Fight to the Finish
Series: First to Fight #3
Author: Jeanette Murray
Release Date: March 1, 2016

The author of Against the Ropes takes her First to Fight series another round with a novel of a JAG officer who loses his cool, when love delivers a knockout punch...

Kara is a single mom working hard to keep life running smoothly for herself and her son, but a custody battle is wearing her down. When her friend suggests asking a JAG officer for some unofficial advice, Kara agrees—and soon finds herself officially head over heels...

As a Judge Advocate, Graham has seen his share of nasty custody disputes—and he plans on keeping his distance from this one. But this purposeful, passionate woman has a way of drawing him ever closer to the edge. And when Kara’s ex starts to throw his weight around, Graham will have to choose between toeing the line or stepping into the ring...

Love that is better the second time around….

It’s so easy to resist a strong, sexy military man, protective, and supportive. Did I say easy? What I meant to say was irresistible! Kara has admired Graham from a distance as she works with his troop of fighting marines, putting them through their yoga paces. She is consumed with keeping heart and home together as she keeps the needs of her son first and foremost. Given the history with her ex that is not surprising at all. As their mutual attraction just can’t be denied, they are going to have to work through a few hurdles thrown in their way…

I love this series about military hotties who are strong in and out of the fighting ring. Each story highlights one couple’s journey set within a tight-knit group of friends. There are many different personalities that light up the fun and sexy storylines and this is no exception. Kara has had to be strong and capable to ensure the wellbeing of her son. Given her circumstances, she is understandably wary when Graham steps up to show his interest in not only her but her son. She’s used to handling things on her own, that’s just how it has been, so she’s not sure if she can open up her heart, or her son’s, to possible disappointment.

I love the characters that inhabit this series! They are real—handling life with humor, sarcasm and the occasional glass of wine. Kara is a single mom, and like many, has had to shoulder more than her share of responsibilities. Graham is right there with her as he knows they come as a package deal. He chips away at her defenses by being caring and sexy, not afraid to go that extra mile. And when he treats that extra mile as nothing special, but something that one simply does for those they love, well, that set the heart palpations to overdrive.

“Wanted her to freely hand him her troubles to help her carry them. Wanted to hold her and be humbled by her faith.”

Throw in supportive and snarky friends, and a few obstacles in their path, and it’s a love story with heart and substance. I hope there is more to come in this series!

Jeanette Murray spends her days surrounded by hunky alpha men…at least in her imagination. In real life, she’s a wife and a mother, keeping tabs on her husband, her daughter, and the family dog on the outskirts of St. Louis. She is also the author of One Night with a Quarterback.
