So, I just finished this book and I am utterly speechless. This story blew me away. It was powerful and emotional. It was sensual and gritty. It was raw and real.
“Because part of us wants to be hurt. We want to know how strong we really are.”
This is the story of a lost girl, just wanting to be found. Wanting to fit in. Wanting to be loved. It is about the harsh realities that those who suffer from personality and mental disorders, suicidal thoughts, and being different, whether it is gay, bi, lesbian or anything else, deal with on a daily basis.
“You poisoned me, and it feels so fucking good. I want more.”
Ms. Raeder has a magical way of telling a story. This book was beautifully written, the words just flowing off the page. I loved how it flipped back and forth in order for us to understand the entire story. I couldn’t put it down and devoured it rapidly.
“Scars tell a story. My whole life was written on my body. How are you supposed to leave the past behind when you carry it with you in your skin?”
All I can say is read this book. You will never be the same. We all have a little bit of madness in us. 5+ stars.
