Blog Tour - The Light House by Jason Luke

Title: The Light House
Author: Jason Luke
Release Date: March 31, 2015

Art has always been Blake McGrath’s life. Scarred by tragedy, he’s hiding from the world on a lonely beach, struggling with loss and bitter regrets.

Connie is a disillusioned art dealer with troubled relationship issues of her own. Through her sudden mysterious appearance, Blake once again returns to the craft he has mastered to prove to himself that there is hope, that redemption is possible… and that love can last.

Connie is a disillusioned artist and art dealer. With an accidental discovery, Connie pushes her way into Blake McGrath’s life, interrupting his self-imposed isolation. Through Connie, Blake rediscovers his passion for art and living.

The two of them are at very low points in their lives. Both had been through some very trying and tragic times, and survived, but neither one was really living. By finding each other, they both learn that love, hope and belief in each other really can conquer all.

I loved this story. I loved both Connie and Blake. Connie and her need to get herself out of her troubled relationship. Blake and his desire to be alone until he realized he was truly lonely. Both needed each other to become whole again. Jason Luke’s ability to immerse the reader into his writing is amazing. I felt like I was a fly on the wall, witnessing and feeling the story as it unfolded.

Art, the majesty of the ocean, and falling in love... Three of my favorite things and I loved how Jason Luke interwove all three into The Light House.

This book was so different from anything from Jason Luke than I have read before. It is a story about love, and finding your way when you seem to be lost, and overcoming self-doubt.

Connie is a woman who is in a situation she is not sure how to get out of. Her life is essentially controlled by her boss and she owes him a huge debt she is unsure she can ever repay.
Blake is a man with a tragic story who is a prisoner to his own sorrow. He is a world renowned artist who seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. When Connie more or less stumbles upon his whereabouts, neither of them will ever be the same.

The characters together learn how to heal and move past what they think is standing in the way of life. And with the help of Ned the dog, they learn to open their hearts up to love.

While I really liked the story, some of the writing seemed a bit too formal, and the conversations stiff. I would definitely recommend this book however; it was a quick read with a great message.
